9 ^[a]Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom^(A) for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,^(B) but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—

²³ and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth.^(A) So was fulfilled^(B) what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.^(C)

¹³ Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum,^(A) which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— ¹⁴ to fulfill^(B) what was said through the prophet Isaiah:

¹¹ The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet^(A) from Nazareth in Galilee.”

⁴ So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem^(A) the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael^(A) and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law,^(B) and about whom the prophets also wrote^(C)—Jesus of Nazareth,^(D) the son of Joseph.”^(E)

⁴⁶ “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?”^(F) Nathanael asked.

“Come and see,” said Philip.
