Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son [a]Shear-jashub, at the end of the (A)conduit of the upper pool, to the highway of the [b]fuller’s field, and say to him, ‘Take care and stay (B)quiet, have no (C)fear and (D)do not be fainthearted because of these two stubs of smoldering (E)firebrands, on account of the burning anger of Rezin and Aram and the (F)son of Remaliah. Because (G)Aram, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has counseled evil against you, saying, “Let us go up against Judah and [c]terrorize it, and make for ourselves a breach in [d]its walls and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,” thus says Lord Yahweh: “(H)It shall not stand, nor shall it happen. For the head of Aram is (I)Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin (now within another sixty-five years Ephraim will be shattered, so that it is no longer a people), and the head of Ephraim is Samaria and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. (J)If you do not [e]establish your faith in Yahweh, you surely shall not [f]be established.”’”

And the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go forth to meet Ahaz, you and She′ar-jash′ub[a] your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Fuller’s Field, and say to him, ‘Take heed, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two smoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remali′ah. Because Syria, with E′phraim and the son of Remali′ah, has devised evil against you, saying, “Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it for ourselves, and set up the son of Ta′be-el as king in the midst of it,” thus says the Lord God:

It shall not stand,
and it shall not come to pass.
For the head of Syria is Damascus,
and the head of Damascus is Rezin.

(Within sixty-five years E′phraim will be broken to pieces so that it will no longer be a people.)

And the head of E′phraim is Samar′ia,
and the head of Samar′ia is the son of Remali′ah.
If you will not believe,
surely you shall not be established.’”
