Judgment and Hope
66 This is what the Lord says:
“Heaven is my throne,(A)
and the earth is my footstool.(B)
Where is the house(C) you will build for me?
Where will my resting place be?
2 Has not my hand made all these things,(D)
and so they came into being?”
declares the Lord.
“These are the ones I look on with favor:
those who are humble and contrite in spirit,(E)
and who tremble at my word.(F)
3 But whoever sacrifices a bull(G)
is like one who kills a person,
and whoever offers a lamb
is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
whoever makes a grain offering
is like one who presents pig’s(H) blood,
and whoever burns memorial incense(I)
is like one who worships an idol.
They have chosen their own ways,(J)
and they delight in their abominations;(K)
4 so I also will choose harsh treatment for them
and will bring on them what they dread.(L)
For when I called, no one answered,(M)
when I spoke, no one listened.
They did evil(N) in my sight
and chose what displeases me.”(O)
5 Hear the word of the Lord,
you who tremble at his word:(P)
“Your own people who hate(Q) you,
and exclude you because of my name, have said,
‘Let the Lord be glorified,
that we may see your joy!’
Yet they will be put to shame.(R)
6 Hear that uproar from the city,
hear that noise from the temple!
It is the sound(S) of the Lord
repaying(T) his enemies all they deserve.
7 “Before she goes into labor,(U)
she gives birth;
before the pains come upon her,
she delivers a son.(V)
8 Who has ever heard of such things?
Who has ever seen(W) things like this?
Can a country be born in a day(X)
or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor
than she gives birth to her children.(Y)
9 Do I bring to the moment of birth(Z)
and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb
when I bring to delivery?” says your God.
10 “Rejoice(AA) with Jerusalem and be glad for her,
all you who love(AB) her;
rejoice greatly with her,
all you who mourn(AC) over her.
11 For you will nurse(AD) and be satisfied
at her comforting breasts;(AE)
you will drink deeply
and delight in her overflowing abundance.”(AF)
12 For this is what the Lord says:
“I will extend peace(AG) to her like a river,(AH)
and the wealth(AI) of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried(AJ) on her arm
and dandled on her knees.
13 As a mother comforts her child,(AK)
so will I comfort(AL) you;
and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”
14 When you see this, your heart will rejoice(AM)
and you will flourish(AN) like grass;
the hand(AO) of the Lord will be made known to his servants,(AP)
but his fury(AQ) will be shown to his foes.
15 See, the Lord is coming with fire,(AR)
and his chariots(AS) are like a whirlwind;(AT)
he will bring down his anger with fury,
and his rebuke(AU) with flames of fire.
16 For with fire(AV) and with his sword(AW)
the Lord will execute judgment(AX) on all people,
and many will be those slain(AY) by the Lord.
17 “Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens,(AZ) following one who is among those who eat the flesh of pigs,(BA) rats(BB) and other unclean things—they will meet their end(BC) together with the one they follow,” declares the Lord.
18 “And I, because of what they have planned and done,(BD) am about to come[a] and gather the people of all nations(BE) and languages, and they will come and see my glory.(BF)
19 “I will set a sign(BG) among them, and I will send some of those who survive(BH) to the nations—to Tarshish,(BI) to the Libyans[b] and Lydians(BJ) (famous as archers), to Tubal(BK) and Greece,(BL) and to the distant islands(BM) that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory.(BN) They will proclaim my glory among the nations. 20 And they will bring(BO) all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain(BP) in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,”(BQ) says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels.(BR) 21 And I will select some of them also to be priests(BS) and Levites,” says the Lord.
22 “As the new heavens and the new earth(BT) that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure.(BU) 23 From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath(BV) to another, all mankind will come and bow down(BW) before me,” says the Lord. 24 “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies(BX) of those who rebelled(BY) against me; the worms(BZ) that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched,(CA) and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”

66 So spricht der Herr: Der Himmel ist mein Thron und die Erde der Schemel für meine Füße! Was für ein Haus wollt ihr mir denn bauen? Oder wo ist der Ort, an dem ich ruhen soll?
2 Denn dies alles hat meine Hand gemacht, und so ist dies alles geworden, spricht der Herr. Ich will aber den ansehen, der demütig und zerbrochenen Geistes ist und der zittert vor meinem Wort.
3 Wer einen Ochsen schächtet, [ist wie einer,] der einen Menschen erschlägt; wer ein Schaf opfert, [ist wie einer,] der einem Hund das Genick bricht; wer Speisopfer darbringt, [ist wie einer,] der Schweineblut [opfert]; wer Weihrauch anzündet, [ist wie einer,] der einen Götzen verehrt — sie alle erwählen ihre eigenen Wege, und ihre Seele hat Wohlgefallen an ihren Gräueln.[a]
4 Darum will auch ich erwählen, was sie quält, und über sie bringen, wovor ihnen graut; denn als ich rief, gab mir niemand Antwort; als ich redete, wollten sie nicht hören, sondern taten, was böse ist in meinen Augen, und erwählten, was mir nicht gefiel!
5 Hört das Wort des Herrn, ihr, die ihr erzittert vor seinem Wort: Es sagen eure Brüder, die euch hassen und euch verstoßen um meines Namens willen: »Der Herr möge sich doch verherrlichen, damit wir eure Freude sehen können!« Aber sie werden sich schämen müssen!
6 Eine Stimme des Getümmels erschallt von der Stadt her, eine Stimme aus dem Tempel! Das ist die Stimme des Herrn, der seinen Feinden bezahlt, was sie verdienen.
Das Heil Jerusalems
7 Ehe sie Wehen empfand, hat sie geboren; bevor die Kindesnot sie ankam, wurde sie von einem Knaben entbunden!
8 Wer hat je so etwas gehört? Wer hat etwas Derartiges gesehen? Wurde je ein Land an einem Tag zur Welt gebracht? Ist je ein Volk auf einmal geboren worden? Denn Zion hat Wehen bekommen und zugleich ihre Kinder geboren.
9 Sollte ich bis zum Durchbruch bringen und doch nicht gebären lassen?, spricht der Herr. Sollte ich, der ich gebären lasse, [die Geburt] verhindern?, spricht dein Gott.
10 Freut euch mit Jerusalem und frohlockt über sie, ihr alle, die ihr sie liebt; frohlockt, teilt nun auch ihre Freude mit ihr, ihr alle, die ihr euch um sie betrübt habt,
11 indem ihr euch satt trinkt an ihrer tröstenden Brust, indem ihr euch in vollen Zügen labt an der Fülle ihrer Herrlichkeit!
12 Denn so spricht der Herr: Siehe, ich will den Frieden zu ihr hinleiten wie einen Strom und die Herrlichkeit der Heidenvölker wie einen überfließenden Bach; und ihr sollt gestillt werden. Man wird euch auf den Armen tragen und auf den Knien liebkosen.
13 Wie einen, den seine Mutter tröstet, so will ich euch trösten; ja, in Jerusalem sollt ihr getröstet werden!
14 Und wenn ihr dies seht, dann wird euer Herz sich freuen, und eure Gebeine werden sprossen wie grünes Gras. So wird sich die Hand des Herrn zu erkennen geben an seinen Knechten, sein Zorn aber an seinen Feinden.
Gericht und Gnade im kommenden Friedensreich des Messias
15 Denn siehe, der Herr wird im Feuer kommen und seine Streitwagen wie der Sturmwind, um seinen Zorn in Glut zu verwandeln und seine Drohungen in Feuerflammen.
16 Denn mit Feuer und mit seinem Schwert wird der Herr alles Fleisch richten; und die vom Herrn Erschlagenen werden eine große Menge sein.
17 Die sich heiligen und reinigen für die [Götzen-]Gärten und einer anderen[b] nachlaufen, inmitten derer, welche Schweinefleisch, Mäuse und andere Gräuel essen — alle zusammen sollen sie weggerafft werden!, spricht der Herr.
18 Ich aber [kenne] ihre Werke und Pläne. Es kommt die Zeit, alle Nationen und Sprachen zusammenzubringen, und sie werden kommen und meine Herrlichkeit sehen.
19 Und ich will ein Zeichen an ihnen tun und aus ihrer Mitte Gerettete entsenden zu den Heidenvölkern nach Tarsis, Pul und Lud, die den Bogen spannen, nach Tubal und Jawan, nach den fernen Inseln, die noch nichts von mir gehört haben und meine Herrlichkeit nicht gesehen haben; und sie werden meine Herrlichkeit unter den Heidenvölkern verkündigen.
20 Und sie werden alle eure Brüder aus allen Heidenvölkern dem Herrn als Opfergabe herbeibringen auf Pferden und auf Wagen und in Sänften, auf Maultieren und Dromedaren, zu meinem heiligen Berg, nach Jerusalem, spricht der Herr, gleichwie die Kinder Israels das Speisopfer in einem reinen Gefäß zum Haus des Herrn bringen.
21 Und ich werde auch von ihnen welche als Priester und Leviten nehmen, spricht der Herr.
22 Denn gleichwie der neue Himmel und die neue Erde, die ich mache, vor meinem Angesicht bleiben werden, spricht der Herr, so soll auch euer Same und euer Name bestehen bleiben.
23 Und es wird geschehen, dass an jedem Neumond und an jedem Sabbat alles Fleisch sich einfinden wird, um vor mir anzubeten, spricht der Herr.
24 Und man wird hinausgehen und die Leichname der Leute anschauen, die von mir abgefallen sind; denn ihr Wurm wird nicht sterben und ihr Feuer nicht erlöschen; und sie werden ein Abscheu sein für alles Fleisch.

«Yo miro con bondad

3 Pero hay gente que me adora
ofreciendo un toro en sacrificio,
y después sale y mata a una persona.
»Hay gente que me sacrifica una oveja
y ofrece a los ídolos un perro.
Hay gente que me presenta
ofrendas de cereales
y luego me ofende
ofreciendo a los ídolos sangre de cerdos.
Hay gente que me honra con incienso
y luego bendice a un ídolo.

4 pero también yo decidiré
con qué desgracias castigarlos.
»Llamé, y nadie me respondió;

5 Isaías dijo:
«Ustedes que adoran a Dios,
escuchen su mensaje:
“Algunos de sus compatriotas,
que les tienen mucho odio
porque me adoran,
dicen burlonamente:
‘Que Dios muestre su poder,
a ver si se ponen contentos’.
¡Pero esos que los odian
serán avergonzados!
6 ”Una voz resuena en la ciudad,
una voz se oye desde el templo:
es mi voz,
que reprende a sus enemigos.
7 ”Jerusalén ha dado a luz
antes de sentir dolores de parto.
8 ¿Quién ha oído algo parecido?
¿Quién ha visto algo semejante?
Una nación no nace en un solo día.
Un pueblo no surge de repente.
En cambio la ciudad de Jerusalén,
sí nació en un día.
9 Yo no iba a impedirlo,
porque soy el Dios de la vida.

La felicidad de Israel
10 Dios dijo:
«Ustedes, los que aman a Jerusalén,
y han llorado con ella,
alégrense ahora y únanse a su alegría.
11 »Así Jerusalén, como una madre,
les dará un alimento delicioso,
y los dejará satisfechos.
12 Yo soy el único Dios;
yo haré que la paz
y las riquezas de las naciones
lleguen hasta Jerusalén
como un río desbordado.
»Jerusalén los llevará en sus brazos,
los alimentará y les mostrará su cariño.
13 »Yo, por mi parte,
los consolaré a ustedes,
como una madre consuela a su hijo.

«Hay gente que entra en los jardines,

Pero yo sé bien

por eso, de un solo golpe,
los castigaré.
»Yo mismo vendré,
y les daré una señal
a los que aún queden vivos.
Los enviaré a los pueblos y naciones
para que hablen de mi poder.
Los enviaré a Tarsis,
a Libia y a Lidia,
a Tubal y a Grecia,
y a los más lejanos países del mar.
20 »Ellos harán venir de las naciones
a todos los sobrevivientes de mi pueblo.
A unos los traerán a caballo,
a otros en carruajes,
a lomo de mulas o en camellos.
Serán una ofrenda especial para mí.
Los traerán hasta Jerusalén
como los israelitas

23-24 »El primer día de cada mes,
y el día sábado, de cada semana,
todos vendrán a adorarme.
»Cuando mi pueblo salga,
verá en el suelo los cadáveres
de los que se rebelaron contra mí.
Allí los gusanos nunca mueren,
y el fuego nunca se apaga.
»¡El mundo entero lo verá
y se llenará de espanto!
