International Children’s Bible
64 Tear open the skies and come down to earth.
The mountains would tremble before you.
2 Be like a fire that burns twigs.
Be like a fire that makes water boil.
Do this so that your enemies will know who you are.
Then all nations will shake with fear when they see you.
3 You have done amazing things that we did not expect.
You came down, and the mountains trembled before you.
4 From long ago no one has ever heard of a God like you.
No one has ever seen a God besides you.
You help the people who trust you.
5 You help those who enjoy doing good.
You help those who remember how you want them to live.
But you were angry because we sinned.
For a long time we disobeyed.
How will we be saved?
6 All of us are dirty with sin.
All the right things we have done are like filthy pieces of cloth.
All of us are like dead leaves.
Like the wind our sins have carried us away.
7 No one worships you.
No one even asks you to help us.
So you have turned away from us.
And we are destroyed because of our sins.
8 But Lord, you are our father.
We are like clay, and you are the potter.
Your hands made us all.
9 Lord, don’t continue to be angry with us.
Don’t remember our sins forever.
Please, look at us
because we are your people.
10 Your holy cities are empty like the desert.
Jerusalem is like a desert;
Jerusalem is destroyed.
11 Our ancestors worshiped you
in our holy and wonderful Temple.
But now it has been burned with fire.
All our precious things have been destroyed.
12 When you see these things, will you hold yourself back from helping us, Lord?
Will you be silent and punish us beyond what we can stand?

64 [a]Oh, that you would rend the heavens(A) and come down,(B)
that the mountains(C) would tremble before you!
2 As when fire sets twigs ablaze
and causes water to boil,
come down to make your name(D) known to your enemies
and cause the nations to quake(E) before you!
3 For when you did awesome(F) things that we did not expect,
you came down, and the mountains trembled(G) before you.
4 Since ancient times no one has heard,
no ear has perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides you,(H)
who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.(I)
5 You come to the help of those who gladly do right,(J)
who remember your ways.
But when we continued to sin against them,
you were angry.(K)
How then can we be saved?
6 All of us have become like one who is unclean,(L)
and all our righteous(M) acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,(N)
and like the wind our sins sweep us away.(O)
7 No one(P) calls on your name(Q)
or strives to lay hold of you;
for you have hidden(R) your face from us
and have given us over(S) to[b] our sins.
8 Yet you, Lord, are our Father.(T)
We are the clay, you are the potter;(U)
we are all the work of your hand.(V)
9 Do not be angry(W) beyond measure, Lord;
do not remember our sins(X) forever.
Oh, look on us, we pray,
for we are all your people.(Y)
10 Your sacred cities(Z) have become a wasteland;
even Zion is a wasteland, Jerusalem a desolation.(AA)
11 Our holy and glorious temple,(AB) where our ancestors praised you,
has been burned with fire,
and all that we treasured(AC) lies in ruins.
12 After all this, Lord, will you hold yourself back?(AD)
Will you keep silent(AE) and punish us beyond measure?

A Prayer for Help
64 Oh, that You would [a]rend the heavens!
That You would come down!
That the mountains might shake at Your (A)presence—
2 As fire burns brushwood,
As fire causes water to boil—
To make Your name known to Your adversaries,
That the nations may tremble at Your presence!
3 When (B)You did awesome things for which we did not look,
You came down,
The mountains shook at Your presence.
4 For since the beginning of the world
(C)Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear,
Nor has the eye seen any God besides You,
Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
5 You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness,
Who remembers You in Your ways.
You are indeed angry, for we have sinned—
(D)In these ways we continue;
And we need to be saved.
6 But we are all like an unclean thing,
And all (E)our righteousnesses are like [b]filthy rags;
We all (F)fade as a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind,
Have taken us away.
7 And there is no one who calls on Your name,
Who stirs himself up to take hold of You;
For You have hidden Your face from us,
And have [c]consumed us because of our iniquities.
8 But now, O Lord,
You are our Father;
We are the clay, and You our (G)potter;
And all we are the work of Your hand.
9 Do not be furious, O Lord,
Nor remember iniquity forever;
Indeed, please look—we all are Your people!
10 Your holy cities are a wilderness,
Zion is a wilderness,
Jerusalem a desolation.
11 Our holy and beautiful [d]temple,
Where our fathers praised You,
Is burned up with fire;
And all (H)our pleasant things [e]are laid waste.
12 (I)Will You restrain Yourself because of these things, O Lord?
(J)Will You [f]hold Your peace, and afflict us very severely?

Dembiyadaas wakhti dheer baannu ku sii soconnay, haddaba ma nala badbaadin doonaa? 6 Waayo, kulligayo waxaannu noqonnay sida wax aan nadiif ahayn, oo xaqnimadayada oo dhammuna waa sida dhar wasakh ah, kulligayona waxaannu u engegnay sida caleen oo kale, oo xumaantayadiina sidii dabayl oo kale ayay noo kaxaysataa. 7 Oo innaba lama arko mid magacaaga ku baryootama, ama niyadiisa u kiciya inuu ku xagsado, waayo, wejigaagii waad naga qarisay, oo xumaatooyinkayagii aawadood waad na wada baabbi'isay. 8 Laakiinse haatan, Rabbiyow, waxaad tahay Aabbahayaga. Annagu waxaannu nahay dhoobadii, oo adiguna dheryasameeyahayaga baad tahay, oo annana kulligayo shuqulkii gacantaada baannu nahay. 9 Rabbiyow, aad ha u cadhoon, oo xumaantana ilaa weligaa ha sii xusuusan. Bal eeg, oo na fiiri, waan ku baryaynaaye, waayo, kulligayo dadkaaga baannu nahay. 10 Magaalooyinkaagii quduuska ahaa cidlo bay noqdeen, Siyoon waxay noqotay cidlo oo kale, Yeruusaalemna waxay noqotay meel baabba' ah. 11 Gurigayagii quduuska ahaa oo qurxoonaa oo ahaa meeshii ay awowayaashayo kugu ammaani jireen dab baa lagu gubay, oo waxyaalahayagii wanwanaagsanaa oo dhanna waa la wada baabbi'iyey. 12 Rabbiyow, waxyaalahaas aawadood ma isu celinaysaa? Ma iska aamusaysaa, oo ma aad baad noo sii dhibaysaa?
