The Glory of Zion
60 “Arise,(A) shine, for your light(B) has come,
and the glory(C) of the Lord rises upon you.
2 See, darkness(D) covers the earth
and thick darkness(E) is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations(F) will come to your light,(G)
and kings(H) to the brightness of your dawn.
4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you:
All assemble(I) and come to you;
your sons come from afar,(J)
and your daughters(K) are carried on the hip.(L)
5 Then you will look and be radiant,(M)
your heart will throb and swell with joy;(N)
the wealth(O) on the seas will be brought to you,
to you the riches of the nations will come.
6 Herds of camels(P) will cover your land,
young camels of Midian(Q) and Ephah.(R)
And all from Sheba(S) will come,
bearing gold and incense(T)
and proclaiming the praise(U) of the Lord.
7 All Kedar’s(V) flocks will be gathered to you,
the rams of Nebaioth will serve you;
they will be accepted as offerings(W) on my altar,(X)
and I will adorn my glorious temple.(Y)
8 “Who are these(Z) that fly along like clouds,(AA)
like doves to their nests?
9 Surely the islands(AB) look to me;
in the lead are the ships of Tarshish,[a](AC)
bringing(AD) your children from afar,
with their silver and gold,(AE)
to the honor(AF) of the Lord your God,
the Holy One(AG) of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.(AH)
10 “Foreigners(AI) will rebuild your walls,
and their kings(AJ) will serve you.
Though in anger I struck you,
in favor(AK) I will show you compassion.(AL)
11 Your gates(AM) will always stand open,
they will never be shut, day or night,
so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations(AN)—
their kings(AO) led in triumphal procession.
12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve(AP) you will perish;
it will be utterly ruined.(AQ)
13 “The glory of Lebanon(AR) will come to you,
the juniper, the fir and the cypress together,(AS)
to adorn my sanctuary;(AT)
and I will glorify the place for my feet.(AU)
14 The children of your oppressors(AV) will come bowing before you;
all who despise you will bow down(AW) at your feet
and will call you the City(AX) of the Lord,
Zion(AY) of the Holy One(AZ) of Israel.
15 “Although you have been forsaken(BA) and hated,
with no one traveling(BB) through,
I will make you the everlasting pride(BC)
and the joy(BD) of all generations.
16 You will drink the milk of nations
and be nursed(BE) at royal breasts.
Then you will know(BF) that I, the Lord, am your Savior,(BG)
your Redeemer,(BH) the Mighty One of Jacob.(BI)
17 Instead of bronze I will bring you gold,(BJ)
and silver in place of iron.
Instead of wood I will bring you bronze,
and iron in place of stones.
I will make peace(BK) your governor
and well-being your ruler.(BL)
18 No longer will violence(BM) be heard in your land,
nor ruin or destruction(BN) within your borders,
but you will call your walls Salvation(BO)
and your gates Praise.(BP)
19 The sun will no more be your light by day,
nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
for the Lord will be your everlasting light,(BQ)
and your God will be your glory.(BR)
20 Your sun(BS) will never set again,
and your moon will wane no more;
the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your days of sorrow(BT) will end.
21 Then all your people will be righteous(BU)
and they will possess(BV) the land forever.
They are the shoot I have planted,(BW)
the work of my hands,(BX)
for the display of my splendor.(BY)
22 The least of you will become a thousand,
the smallest a mighty nation.(BZ)
I am the Lord;
in its time I will do this swiftly.”(CA)

60 Stå upp, var ljus, ty ditt ljus kommer,
och Herrens härlighet går upp över dig.
2 Se, mörker skall övertäcka jorden och töcken folken,
men över dig skall Herren gå upp,
hans härlighet skall uppenbaras över dig.
3 Hednafolk skall vandra i ditt ljus
och kungar i glansen som går upp över dig.
4 Lyft dina ögon och se dig omkring:
Alla samlas och kommer till dig.
Dina söner kommer fjärran ifrån,
dina döttrar bärs fram på armen.
5 Då skall du se det och stråla av fröjd,
ditt hjärta skall bäva och vidga sig.
Ty havets rikedomar skall föras till dig,
folkens skatter skall tillfalla dig.
6 Skaror av kameler skall övertäcka dig,
unga kameler från Midjan och Efa.
Från Saba skall de alla komma,
guld och rökelse skall de bära.
De skall förkunna Herrens lov.
7 Alla Kedars hjordar skall samlas till dig,
Nebajots baggar skall stå till din tjänst.
Till mitt välbehag skall de offras på mitt altare,
och min härlighets hus skall jag förhärliga.
8 Vilka är dessa som kommer farande som moln,
lika duvor som flyger till sitt duvslag?
9 Ty kustländerna väntar på mig,
och främst kommer Tarsis skepp
för att föra dina söner hem från fjärran land.
De för med sig silver och guld
åt Herrens, din Guds, namn, åt Israels Helige,
ty han förhärligar dig.
10 Främlingar skall bygga upp dina murar,
och deras kungar skall betjäna dig.
Ty jag slog dig i min vrede,
men i min nåd förbarmar jag mig över dig.
11 Dina portar skall ständigt hållas öppna
- varken dag eller natt skall de stängas -
så att folkens rikedomar kan föras till dig
och deras kungar föras med i tåget.
12 Ty det hednafolk eller rike
som inte vill tjäna dig skall förgås.
Ja, sådana hednafolk skall i grund förgöras.
13 Libanons härlighet skall komma till dig,
både cypress och platan[a] och buxbom,
för att pryda platsen där min helgedom är.
Jag vill göra platsen för mina fötter härlig.
14 Bugande skall dina förtryckares söner komma till dig,
de som föraktade dig skall alla falla ner för dina fötter.
Och de skall kalla dig " Herrens stad",
"Israels Heliges Sion".
15 I stället för att du var övergiven och hatad,
så att ingen ville ta vägen genom dig,
skall jag göra dig till härlighet för evigt,
till en fröjd från släkte till släkte.
16 Du skall dia hednafolkens mjölk,
ja, kungabröst skall du dia.
Då skall du förstå att jag, Herren, är din frälsare,
att den Starke i Jakob är din återlösare.
17 Jag skall låta guld komma i stället för koppar,
silver i stället för järn,
koppar i stället för trä
och järn i stället för sten.
Jag skall sätta friden till din överhet,
rättfärdigheten till din härskare.
18 Man skall inte mer höra talas om våld i ditt land
eller ödeläggelse och förstörelse inom dina gränser,
utan du skall kalla dina murar för frälsning
och dina portar för lovsång.
19 Solen skall inte mer vara ditt ljus om dagen,
månen skall inte mer lysa dig med sitt sken.
Herren skall vara ditt eviga ljus,
din Gud skall vara din härlighet.
20 Din sol skall inte mer gå ner,
din måne inte mer avta,
ty Herren skall vara ditt eviga ljus,
och dina sorgedagar skall upphöra.
21 Då skall alla i ditt folk vara rättfärdiga
och för evigt besitta landet,
som ett skott av min plantering,
som ett verk av mina händer, för att förhärliga mig.
22 Av den minste skall det bli tusen,
av den ringaste ett stort folk.
Jag, Herren, skall med hast låta detta ske,
när dess tid kommer.

60 Arise, (A)shine;
For your light has come!
And (B)the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
3 The (C)Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.
4 “Lift(D) up your eyes all around, and see:
They all gather together, (E)they come to you;
Your sons shall come from afar,
And your daughters shall be nursed at your side.
5 Then you shall see and become radiant,
And your heart shall swell with joy;
Because (F)the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,
The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.
6 The multitude of camels shall cover your land,
The dromedaries of Midian and (G)Ephah;
All those from (H)Sheba shall come;
They shall bring (I)gold and incense,
And they shall proclaim the praises of the Lord.
7 All the flocks of (J)Kedar shall be gathered together to you,
The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you;
They shall ascend with (K)acceptance on My altar,
And (L)I will glorify the house of My glory.
8 “Who are these who fly like a cloud,
And like doves to their roosts?
9 (M)Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me;
And the ships of Tarshish will come first,
(N)To bring your sons from afar,
(O)Their silver and their gold with them,
To the name of the Lord your God,
And to the Holy One of Israel,
(P)Because He has glorified you.
10 “The(Q) sons of foreigners shall build up your walls,
(R)And their kings shall minister to you;
For (S)in My wrath I struck you,
(T)But in My favor I have had mercy on you.
11 Therefore your gates (U)shall be open continually;
They shall not be shut day or night,
That men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles,
And their kings in procession.
12 (V)For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish,
And those nations shall be utterly ruined.
13 “The(W) glory of Lebanon shall come to you,
The cypress, the pine, and the box tree together,
To beautify the place of My sanctuary;
And I will make (X)the place of My feet glorious.
14 Also the sons of those who afflicted you
Shall come (Y)bowing to you,
And all those who despised you shall (Z)fall prostrate at the soles of your feet;
And they shall call you The City of the Lord,
(AA)Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15 “Whereas you have been forsaken and hated,
So that no one went through you,
I will make you an eternal excellence,
A joy of many generations.
16 You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles,
(AB)And milk the breast of kings;
You shall know that (AC)I, the Lord, am your Savior
And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
17 “Instead of bronze I will bring gold,
Instead of iron I will bring silver,
Instead of wood, bronze,
And instead of stones, iron.
I will also make your officers peace,
And your magistrates righteousness.
18 Violence shall no longer be heard in your land,
Neither [a]wasting nor destruction within your borders;
But you shall call (AD)your walls Salvation,
And your gates Praise.
God the Glory of His People
19 “The (AE)sun shall no longer be your light by day,
Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;
But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light,
And (AF)your God your glory.
20 (AG)Your sun shall no longer go down,
Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;
For the Lord will be your everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning shall be ended.
21 (AH)Also your people shall all be righteous;
(AI)They shall inherit the land forever,
(AJ)The branch of My planting,
(AK)The work of My hands,
That I may be glorified.
22 (AL)A little one shall become a thousand,
And a small one a strong nation.
I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”
