6 El año en que murió el rey Ozías, vi al Señor sentado en su alto y excelso trono. El ruedo de su manto llenaba el Templo. 2 Por encima de él había serafines, con seis alas cada uno: con dos se tapaban la cara, con otras dos se tapaban los genitales, y con el tercer par de alas se mantenían en vuelo. 3 Se gritaban entre sí, diciendo: “Santo, santo, santo, el Señor del universo; la tierra toda rebosa de su gloria”. 4 Los quicios de las puertas temblaron ante el estruendo de su voz, y el Templo se llenó de humo. 5 Me dije entonces:
“¡Ay de mí, estoy perdido!
Soy un hombre de labios impuros,
yo, que habito entre gente de labios impuros,
y he visto con mis propios ojos
al Rey, Señor del universo”.
6 Voló entonces hacia mí uno de los serafines, con un ascua en su mano; la había tomado del altar con unas tenazas 7 y la puso en mi boca diciendo: “Al tocar esto tus labios, tu culpa desaparece, se perdona tu pecado”.
8 Oí la voz del Señor, que decía: ¿A quién enviaré? ¿Quién irá por nosotros? Contesté: “Yo mismo. Envíame”. 9 Él añadió: Ve a decir a este pueblo:
Escuchen con atención, pero no entiendan;
observen con cuidado, pero no aprendan.
10 Embota el corazón de este pueblo,
endurece sus oídos y ciega sus ojos,
no sea que acaben viendo y oyendo,
que su corazón entienda,
se convierta y se cure.
11 Yo pregunté: “¿Hasta cuándo, Señor?”. Me respondió:
Hasta que queden desoladas
y sin habitantes las ciudades,
las casas sin personas,
los campos devastados.
12 El Señor alejará a la gente,
aumentará el abandono del país.
13 Si queda una décima parte,
será de nuevo arrasada;
como una encina o un roble,
que al talarlos queda un tocón.
Semilla santa será su tocón.

6 In the year that King Uzziah(A) died,(B) I saw the Lord,(C) high and exalted,(D) seated on a throne;(E) and the train of his robe(F) filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim,(G) each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet,(H) and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.(M)
5 “Woe(N) to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!(O) For I am a man of unclean lips,(P) and I live among a people of unclean lips,(Q) and my eyes have seen(R) the King,(S) the Lord Almighty.”(T)
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal(U) in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips;(V) your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.(W)”
8 Then I heard the voice(X) of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?(Y) And who will go for us?(Z)”
And I said, “Here am I.(AA) Send me!”
9 He said, “Go(AB) and tell this people:
“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’(AC)
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;(AD)
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.[a](AE)
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,(AF)
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”(AG)
11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”(AH)
And he answered:
“Until the cities lie ruined(AI)
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted(AJ)
and the fields ruined and ravaged,(AK)
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away(AL)
and the land is utterly forsaken.(AM)
13 And though a tenth remains(AN) in the land,
it will again be laid waste.(AO)
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps(AP) when they are cut down,
so the holy(AQ) seed will be the stump in the land.”(AR)
