Llamamiento de Isaías
6 El año en que murió el rey Uzías, vi al SEÑOR sentado en un trono muy alto. Los bordes de su manto llenaban el templo. 2 Sobre él se veían ángeles serafines[a], con seis alas cada uno. Con dos alas se cubrían el rostro, con otras dos se cubrían los pies y con las otras dos volaban. 3 Ellos se decían el uno al otro:
«Santo, santo, santo es el SEÑOR Todopoderoso.
Su gloria llena toda la tierra».
4 El umbral de las puertas se estremecía debido al sonido de las voces y todo el templo se llenó de humo. 5 Entonces yo exclamé: «¡Pobre de mí! Ya me doy por muerto porque mis labios son impuros, vivo en medio de un pueblo de labios impuros y, sin embargo, he visto al Rey, al SEÑOR Todopoderoso». 6 Entonces uno de los serafines voló hacia mí. Él tenía en su mano un carbón ardiente que había agarrado con unas tenazas de las brasas del altar. 7 Tocó mis labios con él y dijo:
«Mira, esto ha tocado tus labios;
se limpia tu culpa,
se perdona tu pecado».
8 Y oí la voz del Señor que decía:
—¿A quién enviaré? ¿Quién irá por nosotros?
Entonces yo dije:
—Aquí me tienes, envíame a mí.
9 Dijo entonces:
—Ve y dile a este pueblo:
“Por más que oigan, no entenderán;
por más que miren, no captarán”.
10 Cierra la mente de este pueblo,
tápales los oídos,
ciérrales los ojos.
Si no fuera así, entenderían lo que ven
y lo que oyen,
se volverían a mí
y yo los sanaría.
11 Yo le pregunté:
—¿Hasta cuándo, Señor?
Él contestó:
—Hasta que las ciudades queden destruidas,
y no haya gente viviendo en ellas.
Hasta que no haya gente viviendo en las casas
y la tierra quede arrasada y desolada.
12 Hasta que el SEÑOR haya enviado a su pueblo bien lejos
y el desierto se haya extendido.
13 Si llega a quedar en el país
aunque sea una décima parte del pueblo,
se quemará lo que queda.
Pero de la misma manera que queda un tocón cuando se tala el roble o la encina,
así también ese tocón será la simiente santa que retoñará.

6 In the year that King Uzziah(A) died,(B) I saw the Lord,(C) high and exalted,(D) seated on a throne;(E) and the train of his robe(F) filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim,(G) each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet,(H) and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.(M)
5 “Woe(N) to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!(O) For I am a man of unclean lips,(P) and I live among a people of unclean lips,(Q) and my eyes have seen(R) the King,(S) the Lord Almighty.”(T)
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal(U) in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips;(V) your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.(W)”
8 Then I heard the voice(X) of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?(Y) And who will go for us?(Z)”
And I said, “Here am I.(AA) Send me!”
9 He said, “Go(AB) and tell this people:
“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’(AC)
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;(AD)
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.[a](AE)
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,(AF)
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”(AG)
11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”(AH)
And he answered:
“Until the cities lie ruined(AI)
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted(AJ)
and the fields ruined and ravaged,(AK)
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away(AL)
and the land is utterly forsaken.(AM)
13 And though a tenth remains(AN) in the land,
it will again be laid waste.(AO)
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps(AP) when they are cut down,
so the holy(AQ) seed will be the stump in the land.”(AR)

6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
12 And the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
