Isaiah Called to Be a Prophet^(A)

6 In the year that ^(B)King Uzziah died, I ^(C)saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. ²Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, ^(D)with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. ³And one cried to another and said:

^(E)“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
^(F)The whole earth is full of His glory!”

⁴And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

⁵So I said:

“Woe is me, for I am ^[a]undone!
Because I am a man of ^(G)unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts.”

⁶Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from ^(H)the altar. ⁷And he ^(I)touched my mouth with it, and said:

“Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin ^[b]purged.”

⁸Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

“Whom shall I send,
And who will go for ^(J)Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

⁹And He said, “Go, and ^(K)tell this people:

‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’

¹⁰“Make ^(L)the heart of this people dull,
And their ears heavy,
And shut their eyes;
^(M)Lest they see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart,
And return and be healed.”

¹¹Then I said, “Lord, how long?”

And He answered:

^(N)“Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant,
The houses are without a man,
The land is utterly desolate,
¹²^(O)The Lord has removed men far away,
And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.

The Day of the Lord^(A)

14 Behold, ^(B)the day of the Lord is coming,
And your ^[a]spoil will be divided in your midst.
²For ^(C)I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses ^[b]rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

³Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
⁴And in that day His feet will stand ^(D)on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
^(E)Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.

⁵Then you shall flee through My mountain valley,
For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal.
Yes, you shall flee
As you fled from the ^(F)earthquake
In the days of Uzziah king of Judah.

^(G)Thus the Lord my God will come,
And ^(H)all the saints with ^[c]You.

⁶It shall come to pass in that day
That there will be no light;
The ^[d]lights will diminish.
⁷It shall be one day
^(I)Which is known to the Lord—
Neither day nor night.
But at ^(J)evening time it shall happen
That it will be light.

⁸And in that day it shall be
That living ^(K)waters shall flow from Jerusalem,
Half of them toward ^[e]the eastern sea
And half of them toward ^[f]the western sea;
In both summer and winter it shall occur.
⁹And the Lord shall be ^(L)King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
^(M)“The Lord is one,”
And His name one.

¹⁴^(A)Blessed are those who ^[a]do His commandments, that they may have the right ^(B)to the tree of life, ^(C)and may enter through the gates into the city. ¹⁵^[b]But ^(D)outside are ^(E)dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

¹⁶^(F)“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. ^(G)I am the Root and the Offspring of David, ^(H)the Bright and Morning Star.”

¹⁷And the Spirit and ^(I)the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” ^(J)And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

A Warning

¹⁸^[c]For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: ^(K)If anyone adds to these things, ^[d]God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; ¹⁹and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, ^(L)God^[e] shall take away his part from the ^[f]Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
