Isaiah 59:17-20
New English Translation
Isaiah 59:17-20
New English Translation
17 He wears his desire for justice[a] like body armor,[b]
and his desire to deliver is like a helmet on his head.[c]
He puts on the garments of vengeance[d]
and wears zeal like a robe.
18 He repays them for what they have done,
dispensing angry judgment to his adversaries
and punishing his enemies.[e]
He repays the coastlands.[f]
19 In the west, people respect[g] the Lord’s reputation;[h]
in the east they recognize his splendor.[i]
For he comes like a rushing[j] stream
driven on by wind sent from the Lord.[k]
20 “A protector[l] comes to Zion,
to those in Jacob who repent of their rebellious deeds,”[m] says the Lord.
