Isaiah 58:6-12
Legacy Standard Bible
6 Is this not the fast which I choose,
To (A)loosen the bonds of wickedness,
To release the bands of [a]the yoke,
And to (B)let the oppressed go free
And (C)break every [b]yoke?
7 Is it not to (D)divide your bread [c]with the hungry
And (E)bring the afflicted homeless into the house;
When you see the (F)naked, you cover him;
And not to (G)hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then your (H)light will break out like the dawn,
And your (I)recovery will speedily spring forth;
And your (J)righteousness will go before you;
The glory of (K)Yahweh will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will (L)call, and Yahweh will answer;
You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
If you (M)remove the [d]yoke from your midst,
The [e](N)pointing of the finger and (O)speaking wickedness,
10 And if you [f](P)offer your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the soul of the afflicted,
Then your (Q)light will rise in darkness
And your thick darkness will become like midday.
11 And (R)Yahweh will continually guide you,
And (S)satisfy your soul in scorched places,
And (T)fortify your bones;
And you will be like a (U)watered garden,
And like a (V)spring of water whose waters do not [g]fail.
12 Those from among you will (W)rebuild the ancient waste places;
You will (X)raise up the foundations of past generation upon generation;
And you will be called the repairer of the (Y)breach,
The restorer of the paths for one to inhabit.

International Standard Version
6 Isn’t this the[a] fast that[b] I have been choosing:
to loose the bonds of injustice,
and[c] to untie the cords of the yoke,
and[d] to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke?
7 Isn’t it to share your bread with the hungry,
and to bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked,
to cover him with clothing,[e]
and not to raise yourself up[f] from your own flesh and blood?”
God’s Reward
8 “Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will spring up quickly;
and your vindication will go before you,
and[g] the glory of the Lord will guard your back.
9 Then you’ll call,
and the Lord will answer;
you’ll cry for help,
and he’ll respond, ‘Here I am.’
“If you do away with the yoke among you,
and[h] pointing fingers and malicious talk;
10 if you pour yourself out for the hungry
and satisfy the needs of afflicted souls,
then your light will rise in darkness,
and your night will be like noonday.
11 And the Lord will guide you continually,
and satisfy your soul in parched places,[i]
and they[j] will strengthen your bones;
and you’ll be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water,
whose waters never fail.
12 And your people will rebuild the ancient ruins;
You’ll raise up the age-old foundations,[k]
and people will call you[l] ‘Repairer of Broken Walls,’
‘Restorer of Streets to Live In.’
