2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread?
and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good,
and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me:
hear, and your soul shall live;
and I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
even the sure mercies of David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people,
a leader and commander to the people.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?(A)
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,(B)
and you will delight in the richest(C) of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen,(D) that you may live.(E)

my faithful love(G) promised to David.(H)
4 See, I have made him a witness(I) to the peoples,
a ruler and commander(J) of the peoples.

2 De ce cântăriţi argint pentru un lucru care nu hrăneşte? De ce vă daţi câştigul muncii pentru ceva care nu satură? Ascultaţi-Mă dar, şi veţi mânca ce este bun şi sufletul vostru se va desfăta cu bucate gustoase. 3 Luaţi aminte şi veniţi(A) la Mine, ascultaţi, şi sufletul vostru va trăi, căci(B) Eu voi încheia cu voi un legământ veşnic, ca să întăresc îndurările(C) Mele faţă de David. 4 Iată, l-am pus martor(D) pe lângă popoare, cap şi stăpânitor(E) al popoarelor.
