He was (A)despised and abandoned by men,
A man of [a]great pain and (B)familiar with sickness;
And like one from whom people hide their faces,
He was (C)despised, and we had no (D)regard for Him.

However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself (E)bore,
And our pains that He carried;
Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted,
Struck down by (F)God, and humiliated.
But He was [b]pierced for (G)our offenses,
He was crushed for (H)our wrongdoings;
The (I)punishment for our [c]well-being was laid upon Him,
And by (J)His wounds we are healed.
All of us, like sheep, have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the wrongdoing of us all
To [d]fall on Him.

He is despised and rejected of men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
