The Lord [a]God has given Me the tongue of (A)disciples,
So that I may know how to (B)sustain the weary one with a word.
He awakens Me (C)morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
The Lord God has (D)opened My ear,
And I was (E)not disobedient,
Nor did I turn back.
I (F)gave My back to those who strike Me,
And My cheeks to those who pull out My beard;
I did not hide My face from insults and spitting.
For the Lord God (G)helps Me,
Therefore, I am (H)not disgraced;
Therefore, I have made My face like (I)flint,
And I know that I will not be ashamed.
He who (J)vindicates Me is near;
Who will contend with Me?
Let us (K)stand up to each other.
Who has a case against Me?
Let him approach Me.
Behold, (L)the Lord God helps Me;
(M)Who is he who condemns Me?
Behold, (N)they will all wear out like a garment;
A moth will eat them.

  1. Isaiah 50:4 Heb YHWH, usually rendered Lord, and so throughout the ch

The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of [a]them that are taught, that I may know how [b]to sustain with words him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as [c]they that are taught. The Lord Jehovah hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward. I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting. For the Lord Jehovah will help me; therefore have I not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand up together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me. Behold, the Lord Jehovah will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? behold, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
