Isaiah 5:24-30

New King James Version

²⁴Therefore, ^(A)as the ^[a]fire devours the stubble,
And the flame consumes the chaff,
So ^(B)their root will be as rottenness,
And their blossom will ascend like dust;
Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,
And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
²⁵^(C)Therefore the anger of the Lord is aroused against His people;
He has stretched out His hand against them
And stricken them,
And ^(D)the hills trembled.
Their carcasses were as refuse in the midst of the streets.

^(E)For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still.

²⁶^(F)He will lift up a banner to the nations from afar,
And will ^(G)whistle to them from ^(H)the end of the earth;
Surely ^(I)they shall come with speed, swiftly.
²⁷No one will be weary or stumble among them,
No one will slumber or sleep;
Nor ^(J)will the belt on their loins be loosed,
Nor the strap of their sandals be broken;
²⁸^(K)Whose arrows are sharp,
And all their bows bent;
Their horses’ hooves will ^[b]seem like flint,
And their wheels like a whirlwind.
²⁹Their roaring will be like a lion,
They will roar like young lions;
Yes, they will roar
And lay hold of the prey;
They will carry it away safely,
And no one will deliver.
³⁰In that day they will roar against them
Like the roaring of the sea.
And if one ^(L)looks to the land,
Behold, darkness and ^[c]sorrow;
And the light is darkened by the clouds.

The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations

³¹^(A)“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the ^[a]holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. ³²^(B)All the nations will be gathered before Him, and ^(C)He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. ³³And He will set the ^(D)sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. ³⁴Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, ^(E)inherit the kingdom ^(F)prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵^(G)for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; ^(H)I was a stranger and you took Me in; ³⁶I was ^(I)naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; ^(J)I was in prison and you came to Me.’

³⁷“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? ³⁸When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? ³⁹Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ ⁴⁰And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, ^(K)inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

⁴¹“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ^(L)‘Depart from Me, you cursed, ^(M)into the everlasting fire prepared for ^(N)the devil and his angels: ⁴²for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; ⁴³I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

⁴⁴“Then they also will answer ^[b]Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ ⁴⁵Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, ^(O)inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ ⁴⁶And ^(P)these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

⁶Then he said to me, ^(A)“These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the ^[a]holy prophets ^(B)sent His angel to show His servants the things which must ^(C)shortly take place.

⁷^(D)“Behold, I am coming quickly! ^(E)Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

⁸Now I, John, ^[b]saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, ^(F)I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

⁹Then he said to me, ^(G)“See that you do not do that. ^[c]For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” ¹⁰^(H)And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, ^(I)for the time is at hand. ¹¹He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him ^[d]be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”
