¹¹Woe to you that rise up early in the morning to follow drunkenness, and to drink till the evening, to be inflamed with wine.

¹²The harp, and the lyre, and the timbrel, and the pipe, and wine are in your feasts: and the work of the Lord you regard not, nor do you consider the works of his hands.

¹³Therefore is my people led away captive, because they had not knowledge, and their nobles have perished with famine, and their multitude were dried up with thirst.

¹¹Woe unto those who rise early in the morning, that they may pursue strong drink, who tarry late into the night till wine inflames them!

¹²They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the Lord, neither do they consider the operation of His hands [in mercy and in judgment].

¹³Therefore My people go into captivity [to their enemies] without knowing it and because they have no knowledge [of God]. And their honorable men [their glory] are famished, and their common people are parched with thirst.

¹¹Woe^(A) to those who rise early in the morning
    to run after their drinks,
who stay up late at night
    till they are inflamed with wine.^(B)
¹²They have harps and lyres at their banquets,
    pipes^(C) and timbrels^(D) and wine,
but they have no regard^(E) for the deeds of the Lord,
    no respect for the work of his hands.^(F)
¹³Therefore my people will go into exile^(G)
    for lack of understanding;^(H)
those of high rank^(I) will die of hunger
    and the common people will be parched with thirst.^(J)
