Isaiah 48:6-11
International Standard Version
6 “You have heard—now look at them all!
How[a] can you not admit them?
From now on, I’ll make you hear new things,
hidden things that you have not known.
7 They are created now, and not long ago;
you didn’t hear them before today,
so you cannot say, ‘Yes, I knew them.’
8 And[b] neither had you heard, nor did you understand,
nor did you open[c] your ear long ago.[d]
Indeed, I knew that[e] you would act very deceitfully,
and they would call[f] you a rebel from birth.
9 I defer my anger for my name’s sake,
and as my first act[g] I’m restraining it for you,
so as not to cut you off.
10 Look, I have refined you, but not like silver;
I have purified[h] you in the furnace of affliction.
11 For my own sake—Yes, for my own sake!—I’m doing it;
indeed, how can I be profaned?[i]
Furthermore, I won’t give my glory to another.”

Isaiah 48:6-11
Lexham English Bible
6 You have heard; see it all.
And will you not declare it?
I announce[a] new things to you from this time
and hidden things that[b] you have not known.
7 Now they are created, and not from of old,[c]
and before today, and you have not heard them
so that you could not say, “Look! I knew them.”
8 Neither have you heard, nor have you known,
nor from of old[d] has your ear been opened.
For I knew you would deal treacherously, very treacherously,
and you are called a rebel from the womb.
9 For the sake of my name I refrain from[e] my anger,
and for my praise I restrain it for you
so as not to cut you off.
10 Look! I have refined you, but[f] not like[g] silver;
I have chosen you in the furnace of misery.
11 For my own sake, for my own sake I do it;
for why should it[h] be defiled?
And I will not give my glory to another.”
