Isaiah 46:9-11
English Standard Version
9 remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
10 (A)declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, (B)‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
11 (C)calling a bird of prey from the east,
the man of my counsel from a far country.
(D)I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass;
I have purposed, and I will do it.
Genesis 4:10-16
English Standard Version
10 And the Lord said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood (A)is crying to me from the ground. 11 And now (B)you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.” 13 Cain said to the Lord, “My (C)punishment is greater than I can bear.[a] 14 Behold, (D)you have driven me today away from the ground, and (E)from your face I shall be hidden. I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, (F)and whoever finds me will kill me.” 15 Then the Lord said to him, “Not so! If anyone kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him (G)sevenfold.” And the Lord (H)put a mark on Cain, lest any who found him should attack him. 16 Then Cain went away from the presence of the Lord and settled in the land of Nod,[b] east of Eden.
