^8 (M)Bring out the blind people who have eyes,
And the ^(N)deaf who have ears.
⁹ Let all the nations be gathered together,
And let the people be assembled.
^(O)Who among them can declare this,
And show us former things?
Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified;
Or let them hear and say, “It is truth.”
¹⁰ “You^(P) are My witnesses,” says the Lord,
^(Q)“And My servant whom I have chosen,
That you may know and ^(R)believe Me,
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God formed,
Nor shall there be after Me.
¹¹ I, even I, ^(S)am the Lord,
And besides Me there is no savior.
¹² I have declared and saved,
I have proclaimed,
And there was no ^(T)foreign god among you;
^(U)Therefore you are My witnesses,”
Says the Lord, “that I am God.
^13 (V)Indeed before the day was, I am He;
And there is no one who can deliver out of My hand;
I work, and who will ^(W)reverse it?”

¹⁴ Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel:
“For your sake I will send to Babylon,
And bring them all down as fugitives—
The Chaldeans, who rejoice in their ships.
¹⁵ I am the Lord, your Holy One,
The Creator of Israel, your ^(X)King.”

¹⁶ Thus says the Lord, who ^(Y)makes a way in the sea
And a ^(Z)path through the mighty waters,
¹⁷ Who ^(AA)brings forth the chariot and horse,
The army and the power
(They shall lie down together, they shall not rise;
They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick):
¹⁸ “Do^(AB) not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
¹⁹ Behold, I will do a ^(AC)new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
^(AD)I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
²⁰ The beast of the field will honor Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because ^(AE)I give waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My people, My chosen.
^21 (AF)This people I have formed for Myself;
They shall declare My ^(AG)praise.

²⁵ “I, even I, am He who ^(AK)blots out your transgressions ^(AL)for My own sake;
^(AM)And I will not remember your sins.
²⁶ Put Me in remembrance;
Let us contend together;
State your case, that you may be ^[a]acquitted.
²⁷ Your first father sinned,
And your ^[b]mediators have transgressed against Me.
²⁸ Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary;
^(AN)I will give Jacob to the curse,
And Israel to reproaches.

³ All inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth:
^(B)When he lifts up a banner on the mountains, you see it;
And when he blows a trumpet, you hear it.
⁴ For so the Lord said to me,
“I will take My rest,
And I will ^[b]look from My dwelling place
Like clear heat in sunshine,
Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”
⁵ For before the harvest, when the bud is perfect
And the sour grape is ripening in the flower,
He will both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks
And take away and cut down the branches.
⁶ They will be left together for the mountain birds of prey
And for the beasts of the earth;
The birds of prey will summer on them,
And all the beasts of the earth will winter on them.

⁷ In that time ^(C)a present will be brought to the Lord of hosts
^[c]From a people tall and smooth of skin,
And from a people terrible from their beginning onward,
A nation powerful and treading down,
Whose land the rivers divide—
To the place of the name of the Lord of hosts,
To Mount Zion.

Behold, the Lord ^(E)rides on a swift cloud,
And will come into Egypt;
^(F)The idols of Egypt will ^[e]totter at His presence,
And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.

² “I will ^(G)set Egyptians against Egyptians;
Everyone will fight against his brother,
And everyone against his neighbor,
City against city, kingdom against kingdom.
³ The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst;
I will destroy their counsel,
And they will ^(H)consult the idols and the charmers,
The mediums and the sorcerers.
⁴ And the Egyptians I will give
^(I)Into the hand of a cruel master,
And a fierce king will rule over them,”
Says the Lord, the Lord of hosts.

^5 (J)The waters will fail from the sea,
And the river will be wasted and dried up.
⁶ The rivers will turn foul;
The brooks ^(K)of defense will be emptied and dried up;
The reeds and rushes will wither.
⁷ The papyrus reeds by ^[f]the River, by the mouth of the River,
And everything sown by the River,
Will wither, be driven away, and be no more.
⁸ The fishermen also will mourn;
All those will lament who cast hooks into the River,
And they will languish who spread nets on the waters.
⁹ Moreover those who work in ^(L)fine flax
And those who weave fine fabric will be ashamed;
¹⁰ And its foundations will be broken.
All who make wages will be troubled of soul.

¹¹ Surely the princes of ^(M)Zoan are fools;
Pharaoh’s wise counselors give foolish counsel.
^(N)How do you say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of the wise,
The son of ancient kings?”
^12 (O)Where are they?
Where are your wise men?
Let them tell you now,
And let them know what the Lord of hosts has ^(P)purposed against Egypt.
¹³ The princes of Zoan have become fools;
^(Q)The princes of ^[g]Noph are deceived;
They have also ^[h]deluded Egypt,
Those who are the ^[i]mainstay of its tribes.
¹⁴ The Lord has mingled ^(R)a perverse spirit in her midst;
And they have caused Egypt to err in all her work,
As a drunken man staggers in his vomit.
¹⁵ Neither will there be any work for Egypt,
Which ^(S)the head or tail,
Palm branch or bulrush, may do.
