43 But now thus says the Lord,
    he who created you, O Jacob,
    he who formed you, O Israel:
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
    I have called you by name; you are mine.^(A)

⁷ everyone who is called by my name,
    whom I created for my glory,
    whom I formed and made.”^(A)

⁹ And I will put this third into the fire,
    refine them as one refines silver,
    and test them as gold is tested.
They will call on my name,
    and I will answer them.
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
    and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’ ”^(A)

³ I will give you the treasures of darkness
    and riches hidden in secret places,
so that you may know that it is I, the Lord,
    the God of Israel, who call you by your name.^(A)
4 For the sake of my servant Jacob
    and Israel my chosen,
I call you by your name;
    I give you a title, though you do not know me.^(B)

³     the Lord appeared to him^[a] from far away.^[b]
I have loved you with an everlasting love;
    therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.^(A)
