The coastlands saw it and feared,
The ends of the earth were afraid;
They drew near and came.
(A)Everyone helped his neighbor,
And said to his brother,
[a]“Be of good courage!”
(B)So the craftsman encouraged the (C)goldsmith;[b]
He who smooths with the hammer inspired him who strikes the anvil,
Saying, [c]“It is ready for the soldering”;
Then he fastened it with pegs,
(D)That it might not totter.

“But you, Israel, are My servant,
Jacob whom I have (E)chosen,
The descendants of Abraham My (F)friend.
You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,
And called from its farthest regions,
And said to you,
‘You are My servant,
I have chosen you and have not cast you away:
10 (G)Fear not, (H)for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

The isles have seen, and fear; the ends of the earth tremble; they draw near, and come. They help every one his neighbor; and every one saith to his brother, Be of good courage. So the carpenter encourageth the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smiteth the anvil, saying of the soldering, It is good; and he fasteneth it with nails, that it should not be moved.

But thou, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend, thou whom I have taken hold of from the ends of the earth, and called from the corners thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee and not cast thee away; 10 fear thou not, for I am with thee; [a]be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
