องค์พระผู้ช่วยแห่งอิสราเอล
41 “เกาะทั้งหลายเอ๋ย จงเงียบและฟังเรา!
ให้ประชาชาติต่างๆ ฟื้นกำลังขึ้นใหม่!
ให้พวกเขาก้าวออกมาพูดข้างหน้านี้
ให้เรามาพบกันในสถานพิพากษา
2 “ใครหนอดลใจบุคคลผู้นี้จากตะวันออก
ให้มาทำหน้าที่ของตนอย่างชอบธรรม[a]?
พระองค์ทรงมอบประชาชาติต่างๆ แก่เขา
และสยบบรรดากษัตริย์ต่อหน้าเขา
พระองค์ทรงใช้ดาบของเขาฟาดฟันกษัตริย์เหล่านั้นเป็นธุลี
คันธนูของเขาทำให้กษัตริย์เหล่านั้นเหมือนแกลบปลิวฟุ้งไป
3 เขาตามล่าคนเหล่านั้นไปโดยไม่ได้รับอันตราย
ตามเส้นทางซึ่งเขาไม่เคยเหยียบย่างมาก่อน
4 ใครหนอกระทำเช่นนี้จนสำเร็จ
ที่เป็นผู้เรียกคนในชั่วอายุต่างๆ มาตั้งแต่ต้น?
เรา พระยาห์เวห์เป็นปฐมและอวสาน
เราคือผู้นั้น”
5 เกาะทั้งหลายเห็นแล้วก็หวาดกลัว
สุดปลายแผ่นดินโลกสั่นสะท้าน
พวกเขาเข้ามาใกล้และออกมาข้างหน้า
6 ต่างช่วยเหลือกัน
และกล่าวแก่พี่น้องของตนว่า “เข้มแข็งเข้าไว้!”
7 ช่างฝีมือให้กำลังใจช่างทอง
ผู้ใช้ค้อนก็ให้กำลังใจผู้ตีทั่ง
เขากล่าวถึงงานบัดกรีว่า “ดี”
เขาเอาตะปูตอกรูปเคารพ มันจะได้ไม่ล้มคว่ำลง
8 “ส่วนเจ้า อิสราเอลผู้รับใช้ของเรา
ยาโคบผู้ซึ่งเราได้เลือกสรรไว้
เจ้าผู้เป็นลูกหลานของอับราฮัมสหายของเรา
9 เราพาเจ้ามาจากสุดปลายแผ่นดินโลก
เราเรียกเจ้ามาจากมุมไกลโพ้นที่สุด
เราบอกเจ้าว่า ‘เจ้าเป็นผู้รับใช้ของเรา’
เราได้เลือกสรรเจ้า และไม่เคยทอดทิ้งเจ้า
10 ดังนั้น อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะเราอยู่กับเจ้า
อย่าท้อแท้ เพราะเราเป็นพระเจ้าของเจ้า
เราจะทำให้เจ้าเข้มแข็งขึ้นและจะช่วยเจ้า
เราจะชูเจ้าไว้ด้วยมือขวาอันชอบธรรมของเรา
11 “บรรดาผู้ที่เกรี้ยวกราดต่อเจ้า
จะอับอายขายหน้าและอัปยศอดสูอย่างแน่นอน
ผู้ที่ต่อต้านเจ้า
จะสิ้นค่าและพินาศไป
12 ถึงแม้เจ้าจะมองหาศัตรู
เจ้าก็จะไม่พบ
บรรดาผู้ที่รบกับเจ้า
จะหมดค่าอย่างสิ้นเชิง
13 เพราะเราคือพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของเจ้า
ผู้จับมือขวาของเจ้าไว้
และบอกกับเจ้าว่า อย่ากลัวเลย
เราจะช่วยเจ้า
14 อย่ากลัวเลย เจ้าหนอนยาโคบเอ๋ย
อิสราเอลน้อยๆ เอ๋ย
เพราะเราเองจะช่วยเจ้า” องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าประกาศดังนั้น
พระองค์ทรงเป็นองค์บริสุทธิ์แห่งอิสราเอลผู้ไถ่เจ้า
15 “ดูเถิด เราจะทำให้เจ้าเป็นดั่งเลื่อนนวดข้าว
ที่ใหม่และคม มีฟันหลายซี่
เจ้าจะนวดและบดขยี้ภูเขาต่างๆ
ทำให้เนินเขาทั้งหลายเป็นเหมือนแกลบ
16 เจ้าจะซัดมัน ลมจะหอบมันขึ้น
และพายุจะพัดมันกระจายไป
ส่วนเจ้าจะปีติยินดีในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
และภาคภูมิใจในองค์บริสุทธิ์แห่งอิสราเอล
17 “คนยากไร้และขัดสนเสาะหาน้ำดื่ม แต่ไม่มีเลย
ลิ้นของเขาแห้งผากด้วยความกระหาย
แต่เรา พระยาห์เวห์จะตอบเขา
เรา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลจะไม่ทอดทิ้งพวกเขาเลย
18 เราจะทำให้แม่น้ำไหลบนที่สูงซึ่งแห้งแล้ง
และให้มีธารน้ำพุในหุบเขา
เราจะเปลี่ยนถิ่นกันดารเป็นสระน้ำ
และเปลี่ยนผืนดินแตกระแหงให้กลายเป็นธารน้ำพุ
19 เราจะปลูกต้นสนซีดาร์และต้นกระถินเทศ
ต้นน้ำมันเขียวและต้นมะกอกในทะเลทราย
และเราจะปลูกต้นสนชนิดต่างๆ ไว้ในถิ่นกันดาร
ทั้งสนเฟอร์และสนไซเปรสด้วย
20 เพื่อคนทั้งปวงจะเห็นและรู้
จะพิเคราะห์และเข้าใจ
ว่าพระหัตถ์ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงทำการนี้
องค์บริสุทธิ์แห่งอิสราเอลทรงสร้างมันขึ้น”
21 องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า “จงเสนอคดีความของเจ้า”
องค์กษัตริย์ของยาโคบตรัสว่า “จงแสดงข้อพิสูจน์ของเจ้ามาเถิด”
22 “จงนำบรรดารูปเคารพของเจ้าเข้ามาบอกพวกเรา
ว่ากำลังจะเกิดอะไรขึ้น
จงเล่าความเป็นไปแต่เดิม
เพื่อเราจะพิจารณาและรับรู้จุดจบ
หรือจะเล่าให้พวกเราฟังถึงสิ่งที่จะเกิดขึ้น
23 จงบอกพวกเรามาเถิดว่าอนาคตจะมีอะไรบ้าง
เพื่อเราจะรู้ว่าพวกเจ้าเป็นเทพเจ้า
ทำอะไรสักอย่างสิ จะดีหรือชั่วก็ได้
เพื่อเราจะได้ท้อแท้และหวาดหวั่น
24 แต่พวกเจ้าต่ำต้อยด้อยค่ายิ่งกว่าศูนย์
และผลงานของเจ้าล้วนไร้ค่า
ผู้ที่เลือกเจ้าก็น่าชิงชัง
25 “เราได้เรียกบุคคลผู้หนึ่งจากทางเหนือ และเขาก็มา
เขามาจากที่ดวงอาทิตย์ขึ้น เขาร้องเรียกนามของเรา
เขาเหยียบย่ำบรรดาผู้ปกครองเหมือนย่ำปูน
ราวกับช่างปั้นย่ำดินเหนียว
26 ใครเล่าบอกถึงสิ่งนี้ให้เรารู้มาตั้งแต่ต้น
หรือบอกไว้ตั้งแต่แรก เราจึงพูดได้ว่า ‘ถูกอย่างที่เขาบอก’?
ไม่มีใครพูดไว้
ไม่มีใครแจ้งไว้ก่อน
ไม่มีใครได้ยินอะไรจากเจ้าเลย
27 เราเป็นคนแรกที่บอกศิโยนว่า ‘ดูเถิด พวกเขามาแล้ว!’
เรามอบทูตแห่งข่าวดีให้เยรูซาเล็ม
28 เรามองดูแต่ไม่มีใครสักคน
ไม่มีแม้สักคนเดียวในพวกเขาที่จะให้คำปรึกษาแนะนำ
ไม่มีใครตอบเมื่อเราถาม
29 ดูเถิด พวกเขาล้วนแต่จอมปลอม!
การกระทำของเขาล้วนไร้ค่า

Israel Assured of God’s Help
41 Listen to me in silence, O coastlands;
let the peoples renew their strength;
let them approach, then let them speak;
let us together draw near for judgement.
2 Who has roused a victor from the east,
summoned him to his service?
He delivers up nations to him,
and tramples kings under foot;
he makes them like dust with his sword,
like driven stubble with his bow.
3 He pursues them and passes on safely,
scarcely touching the path with his feet.
4 Who has performed and done this,
calling the generations from the beginning?
I, the Lord, am first,
and will be with the last.
5 The coastlands have seen and are afraid,
the ends of the earth tremble;
they have drawn near and come.
6 Each one helps the other,
saying to one another, ‘Take courage!’
7 The artisan encourages the goldsmith,
and the one who smooths with the hammer encourages the one who strikes the anvil,
saying of the soldering, ‘It is good’;
and they fasten it with nails so that it cannot be moved.
8 But you, Israel, my servant,
Jacob, whom I have chosen,
the offspring of Abraham, my friend;
9 you whom I took from the ends of the earth,
and called from its farthest corners,
saying to you, ‘You are my servant,
I have chosen you and not cast you off’;
10 do not fear, for I am with you,
do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
11 Yes, all who are incensed against you
shall be ashamed and disgraced;
those who strive against you
shall be as nothing and shall perish.
12 You shall seek those who contend with you,
but you shall not find them;
those who war against you
shall be as nothing at all.
13 For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, ‘Do not fear,
I will help you.’
14 Do not fear, you worm Jacob,
you insect[a] Israel!
I will help you, says the Lord;
your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
15 Now, I will make of you a threshing-sledge,
sharp, new, and having teeth;
you shall thresh the mountains and crush them,
and you shall make the hills like chaff.
16 You shall winnow them and the wind shall carry them away,
and the tempest shall scatter them.
Then you shall rejoice in the Lord;
in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory.
17 When the poor and needy seek water,
and there is none,
and their tongue is parched with thirst,
I the Lord will answer them,
I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers on the bare heights,[b]
and fountains in the midst of the valleys;
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
and the dry land springs of water.
19 I will put in the wilderness the cedar,
the acacia, the myrtle, and the olive;
I will set in the desert the cypress,
the plane and the pine together,
20 so that all may see and know,
all may consider and understand,
that the hand of the Lord has done this,
the Holy One of Israel has created it.
The Futility of Idols
21 Set forth your case, says the Lord;
bring your proofs, says the King of Jacob.
22 Let them bring them, and tell us
what is to happen.
Tell us the former things, what they are,
so that we may consider them,
and that we may know their outcome;
or declare to us the things to come.
23 Tell us what is to come hereafter,
that we may know that you are gods;
do good, or do harm,
that we may be afraid and terrified.
24 You, indeed, are nothing
and your work is nothing at all;
whoever chooses you is an abomination.
25 I stirred up one from the north, and he has come,
from the rising of the sun he was summoned by name.[c]
He shall trample[d] on rulers as on mortar,
as the potter treads clay.
26 Who declared it from the beginning, so that we might know,
and beforehand, so that we might say, ‘He is right’?
There was no one who declared it, none who proclaimed,
none who heard your words.
27 I first have declared it to Zion,[e]
and I give to Jerusalem a herald of good tidings.
28 But when I look there is no one;
among these there is no counsellor
who, when I ask, gives an answer.
29 No, they are all a delusion;
their works are nothing;
their images are empty wind.

41 Let the islands keep silence before me, and the nations take new strength: let them come near, and then speak, let us come near to judgment together.
2 Who hath raised up the just one from the east, hath called him to follow him? he shall give the nations in his sight, and he shall rule over kings: he shall give them as the dust to his sword, as stubble driven by the wind, to his bow.
3 He shall pursue them, he shall pass in peace, no path shall appear after his feet.
4 Who hath wrought and done these things, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, I am the first and the last.
5 The islands saw it, and feared, the ends of the earth were astonished, they drew near, and came.
6 Every one shall help his neighbour, and shall say to his brother: Be of good courage.
7 The coppersmith striking with the hammer encouraged him that forged at that time, saying: It is ready for soldering: and he strengthened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
8 But thou Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend:
9 In whom I have taken thee from the ends of the earth, and from the remote parts thereof have called thee, and said to thee: Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee, and have not cast thee away.
10 Fear not, for I am with thee: turn not aside, for I am thy God: I have strengthened thee, and have helped thee, and the right hand of my just one hath upheld thee.
11 Behold all that fight against thee shall be confounded and ashamed, they shall be as nothing, and the men shall perish that strive against thee.
12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find the men that resist thee: they shall be as nothing: and as a thing consumed the men that war against thee.
13 For I am the Lord thy God, who take thee by the hand, and say to thee: Fear not, I have helped thee.
14 Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, you that are dead of Israel: I have helped thee, saith the Lord: and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel.
15 I have made thee as a new thrashing wain, with teeth like a saw: thou shall thrash the mountains, and break them in pieces: and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, in the Holy One of Israel thou shalt be joyful.
17 The needy and the poor seek for waters, and there are none: their tongue hath been dry with thirst. I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers in the high bills, and fountains in the midst of the plains: I will turn the desert into pools of waters, and the impassable land into streams of waters.
19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, and the thorn, and the myrtle, and the olive tree: I will set in the desert the fir tree, the elm, and the box tree together:
20 That they may see and know, and consider, and understand together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
21 Bring your cause near, saith the Lord: bring hither, if you have any thing to allege, saith the King of Jacob.
22 Let them come, and tell us all things that are to come: tell us the former things what they were: and we will set our heart upon them, and shall know the latter end of them, and tell us the things that are to come.
23 shew the things that are to come hereafter, and we shall know that ye are gods. Do ye also good or evil, if you can: and let us speak, and see together.
24 Behold, you are of nothing, and your work of that which hath no being: he that hath chosen you is an abomination.
25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come from the rising of the sun: he shall call upon my name, and he shall make princes to be as dirt, and as the potter treading clay.
26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know: and from time of old, that we may say: Thou art just. There is none that sheweth, nor that foretelleth, nor that heareth your words.
27 The first shall say to Sion: Behold they are here, and to Jerusalem I will give an evangelist.
28 And I saw, and there was no one even among them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.
29 Behold they are all in the wrong, and their works are vain: their idols are wind and vanity.
