28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is (A)the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
    (B)his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
    and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but (C)they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings (D)like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint.

For God, who said, (A)“Let light shine out of darkness,” (B)has shone in our hearts to give (C)the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Treasure in Jars of Clay

But we have this treasure in (D)jars of clay, (E)to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are (F)afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but (G)not forsaken; (H)struck down, but not destroyed; 10 (I)always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, (J)so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. 11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So (K)death is at work in us, but life in you.

A Woman with a Disabling Spirit

10 Now (A)he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had had (B)a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” 13 And he (C)laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she (D)glorified God. 14 But (E)the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus (F)had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, (G)“There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! (H)Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? 16 And ought not this woman, (I)a daughter of Abraham whom (J)Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” 17 As he said these things, (K)all his adversaries were put to shame, and (L)all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.
