The Renewal of Zion

In that day (A)the Branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious;
And the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and appealing
For those of Israel who have escaped.

And it shall come to pass that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem (B)will be called holy—everyone who is (C)recorded among the living in Jerusalem. When (D)the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the [a]blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning, then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, (E)a cloud and smoke by day and (F)the shining of a flaming fire by night. For over all the glory there will be a [b]covering. And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, (G)for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.

11 (A)But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ says the Lord of hosts.

12 ‘For(B) the [a]seed shall be prosperous,
The vine shall give its fruit,
(C)The ground shall give her increase,
And (D)the heavens shall give their dew—
I will cause the remnant of this people
To possess all these.
13 And it shall come to pass
That just as you were (E)a curse among the nations,
O house of Judah and house of Israel,
So I will save you, and (F)you shall be a blessing.
Do not fear,
Let your hands be strong.’

14 “For thus says the Lord of hosts:

(G)‘Just as I determined to [b]punish you
When your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
(H)‘And I would not relent,
15 So again in these days
I am determined to do good
To Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
Do not fear.
16 These are the things you shall (I)do:
(J)Speak each man the truth to his neighbor;
Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace;
17 (K)Let none of you think evil in [c]your heart against your neighbor;
And do not love a false oath.
For all these are things that I hate,’
Says the Lord.”

18 Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, 19 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

(L)‘The fast of the fourth month,
(M)The fast of the fifth,
(N)The fast of the seventh,
(O)And the fast of the tenth,
Shall be (P)joy and gladness and cheerful feasts
For the house of Judah.
(Q)Therefore love truth and peace.’

20 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

‘Peoples shall yet come,
Inhabitants of many cities;
21 The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying,
(R)“Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord,
And seek the Lord of hosts.
I myself will go also.”
22 Yes, (S)many peoples and strong nations
Shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem,
And to pray before the Lord.’

23 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men (T)from every language of the nations shall (U)grasp the [d]sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard (V)that God is with you.” ’ ”

43 (A)But know this, that if the master of the house had known what [a]hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 (B)Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant(C)

45 (D)“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food [b]in due season? 46 (E)Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47 Assuredly, I say to you that (F)he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master (G)is delaying [c]his coming,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is (H)not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. (I)There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
