GOD’S WORD Translation
The Lord’s People Will Have Joy
35 The desert and the dry land will be glad,
and the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
2 Like a lily the land will blossom.
It will rejoice and sing with joy.
It will have the glory of Lebanon, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
Everyone will see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.
3 Strengthen limp hands.
Steady weak knees.
4 Tell those who are terrified,
“Be brave; don’t be afraid.
Your God will come with vengeance, with divine revenge.
He will come and rescue you.”
5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened,
and the ears of the deaf will be unplugged.
6 Then those who are lame will leap like deer,
and those who cannot speak will shout for joy.
Water will gush out into the desert,
and streams will gush out into the wilderness.
7 Then the hot sand will become a pool,
and dry ground will have springs.
Grass will become cattails and rushes
in the home of jackals.
8 A highway will be there, a roadway.
It will be called the Holy Road.
Sinners won’t travel on it.
It will be for those who walk on it.
Godless fools won’t wander ⌞onto it⌟.
9 Lions won’t be there.
Wild animals won’t go on it.
They won’t be found there.
But the people reclaimed ⌞by the Lord⌟ will walk ⌞on it⌟.
10 The people ransomed by the Lord will return.
They will come to Zion singing with joy.
Everlasting happiness will be on their heads ⌞as a crown⌟.
They will be glad and joyful.
They will have no sorrow or grief.

35 The desert(A) and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.(B)
Like the crocus,(C) 2 it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.(D)
The glory of Lebanon(E) will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel(F) and Sharon;(G)
they will see the glory(H) of the Lord,
the splendor of our God.(I)
3 Strengthen the feeble hands,
steady the knees(J) that give way;
4 say(K) to those with fearful hearts,(L)
“Be strong, do not fear;(M)
your God will come,(N)
he will come with vengeance;(O)
with divine retribution
he will come to save(P) you.”
5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened(Q)
and the ears of the deaf(R) unstopped.
6 Then will the lame(S) leap like a deer,(T)
and the mute tongue(U) shout for joy.(V)
Water will gush forth in the wilderness
and streams(W) in the desert.
7 The burning sand will become a pool,
the thirsty ground(X) bubbling springs.(Y)
In the haunts where jackals(Z) once lay,
grass and reeds(AA) and papyrus will grow.
8 And a highway(AB) will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness;(AC)
it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean(AD) will not journey on it;
wicked fools will not go about on it.
9 No lion(AE) will be there,
nor any ravenous beast;(AF)
they will not be found there.
But only the redeemed(AG) will walk there,
10 and those the Lord has rescued(AH) will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;(AI)
everlasting joy(AJ) will crown their heads.
Gladness(AK) and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.(AL)

35 The (A)wilderness and the [a]wasteland shall be glad for them,
And the (B)desert[b] shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
2 (C)It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
The excellence of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the (D)glory of the Lord,
The excellency of our God.
3 (E)Strengthen the [c]weak hands,
And make firm the [d]feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with (F)vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and (G)save you.”
5 Then the (H)eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And (I)the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then the (J)lame shall leap like a deer,
And the (K)tongue of the dumb sing.
For (L)waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
7 The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In (M)the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
8 A (N)highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
(O)The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.
9 (P)No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;
It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,
10 And the (Q)ransomed of the Lord shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And (R)sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

परमेश्वर अपने लोगों को सुख देगा
35 सूखा रेगिस्तान बहुत खुशहाल हो जायेगा। रेगिस्तान प्रसन्न होगा और एक फूल के समान विकसित होगा। 2 वह रेगिस्तान खिलते हुये फलों से भर उठेगा और अपनी प्रसन्नता दर्शाने लगेगा। ऐसा लगेगा जैसे रेगिस्तान आनन्द में भरा नाच रहा है। यह रेगिस्तान ऐसा सुन्दर हो जायेगा जैसा लबानोन का वन है, कर्मेल का पहाड़ है और शारोन की घाटी है। ऐसा इसलिए होगा क्योंकि सभी लोग यहोवा की महिमा का दर्शन करेंगे। लोग हमारे परमेश्वर की महानता को देखेंगे।
3 दुर्बल बाँहों को फिर से शक्तिपूर्ण बनाओ। दुर्बल घुटनों को मज़बूत करो। 4 लोग डरे हुए हैं और असमंजस में पड़े हैं। उन लोगों से कहो, “शक्तिशाली बनो! डरो मत!” देखो, तुम्हारा परमेश्वर आयेगा और तुम्हारे शत्रुओं को जो उन्होंने किया है, उसका दण्ड देगा। वह आयेगा और तुम्हें तुम्हारा प्रतिफल देगा और तुम्हारी रक्षा करेगा। 5 फिर तो अन्धे देखने लगेंगे। उनकी आँखें खुल जायेंगी। फिर तो बहरे लोग सुन सकेंगे। उन के कान खुल जायेंगे। 6 लूले—लंगड़े लोग हिरन की तरह नाचने लगेंगे और ऐसे लोग जो अभी गूंगे हैं, प्रसन्न गीत गाने में अपनी वाणी का उपयोग करने लगेंगे। ऐसा उस समय होगा जब मरूभूमि में पानी के झरने बहने लगेंगे। सूखी धरती पर झरने बह चलेंगे। 7 लोग अभी जल के रूप में मृग मरीचिका को देखते हैं किन्तु उस समय जल के सच्चे सरोवर होंगे। सूखी धरती पर कुएँ हो जायेंगे। सूखी धरती से जल फूट बहेगा। जहाँ एक समय जंगली जानवरों का राज था, वहाँ लम्बे लम्बे पानी के पौधे उग आयेंगे।
8 उस समय, वहाँ एक राह बन जायेगी और इस राजमार्ग का नाम होगा “पवित्र मार्ग”। उस राह पर अशुद्ध लोगों को चलने की अनुमति नहीं होगी। कोई भी मूर्ख उस राह पर नहीं चलेगा। बस परमेश्वर के पवित्र लोग ही उस पर चला करेंगे। 9 उस सड़क पर कोई खतरा नहीं होगा। लोगों को हानि पहुँचाने के लिये उस सड़क पर शेर नहीं होंगे। कोई भी भयानक जन्तु वहाँ नहीं होगा। वह सड़क उन लोगों के लिए होगी जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने मुक्त किया है।
10 परमेश्वर अपने लोगों को मुक्त करेगा और वे लोग फिर लौट कर वहाँ आयेंगे। लोग जब सिय्योन पर आयेंगे तो वे प्रसन्न होंगे। वे सदा सदा के लिए प्रसन्न हो जायेंगे। उनकी प्रसन्नता उनके माथों पर एक मुकुट के समान होगी। वे अपनी प्रसन्नता और आनन्द से पूरी तरह भर जायेंगे। शोक और दु:ख उनसे दूर बहुत दूर चले जायेंगे।
