34 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.

For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the Lord hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.

And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.

12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.

13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.

14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.

15 There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.

16 Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.

Do kraja će ih zatrti,
    predat će ih pokolju.
Ubijeni će biti izbačeni.
    Dizat će se smrad njihovih lešina,
    njihova krv teći će brdima.
Raspast će se sve nebeske zvijezde,[a]
    a nebo se smotati kao svitak[b].
Cijelo zvjezdano mnoštvo
    past će kao uvelo lišće s loze,
    kao smežurane smokve s drveta.

Bog kaže:
»Kad uništim njihove nebeske vojske,
    sići ću i kazniti Edom,
    narod koji sam na propast osudio.«
BOŽJI mač prekriven je krvlju i mašću—
krvlju janjaca i jaraca,
    lojem s ovnovskih bubrega.[c]
BOG prinosi žrtvu u Bosri[d],
    čini veliki pokolj u Edomu.
S njima će biti ubijeni bivoli,
    junci i snažni bikovi.
Zemlja će im se natopiti krvlju,
    tlo će biti masno od loja.
Jer, BOG je spremio dan osvete,
    godinu u kojoj će ljudi platiti
    nepravde počinjene Sionu.

Edomovi potoci pretvorit će se u smolu,
    zemlja će gorjeti kao smola i sumpor.
10 Neće se gasiti ni noću ni danju,
    dim će se zauvijek dizati s nje.
Od naraštaja do naraštaja ležat će pusta,
    nitko više neće njome prolaziti.
11 Zaposjest će je pustinjski sokoli i ježevi,
    u njoj će se gnijezditi sove i gavrani.
BOG će Edomu odrediti
    pomutnju i uništenje.
12 Njegovi plemići neće imati ništa
    što bi mogli zvati kraljevstvom;
    nestat će svi njegovi poglavari.
13 Trnje će mu rasti u palačama,
    koprive će prekriti utvrde.
Postat će stanište šakalima
    i dom nojevima.
14 Pustinjska stvorenja susretat će hijene,
    jarci-demoni[e] dozivat će se meketanjem.
Tamo će žena-demon[f]
    sebi nalaziti mjesto počinka.
15 Zmije[g] će se gnijezditi i polagati jaja
    iz kojih će se izlijegati mladi.
I lešinari će se tamo skupljati,
    svaki sa svojim parom.

16 Potražite u BOŽJEM svitku i pročitajte:
    nitko od tih neće nedostajati,
    nitko neće biti bez svoga para.
Jer, BOG je zapovjedio,
    njegov Duh ih je okupio.
17 On je odabrao i izmjerio zemlju
    i dodijelio je tim stvorenjima.
Ona će biti njihova dovijeka
    i u njoj će boraviti kroz sve naraštaje.

Judgment on the Nations

34 Come (A)near, you nations, to hear;
And heed, you people!
(B)Let the earth hear, and all that is in it,
The world and all things that come forth from it.
For the indignation of the Lord is against all nations,
And His fury against all their armies;
He has utterly destroyed them,
He has given them over to the (C)slaughter.
Also their slain shall be thrown out;
(D)Their stench shall rise from their corpses,
And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
(E)All the host of heaven shall be dissolved,
And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll;
(F)All their host shall fall down
As the leaf falls from the vine,
And as (G)fruit falling from a fig tree.

“For (H)My sword shall be bathed in heaven;
Indeed it (I)shall come down on Edom,
And on the people of My curse, for judgment.
The (J)sword of the Lord is filled with blood,
It is made [a]overflowing with fatness,
With the blood of lambs and goats,
With the fat of the kidneys of rams.
For (K)the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
The wild oxen shall come down with them,
And the young bulls with the mighty bulls;
Their land shall be soaked with blood,
And their dust [b]saturated with fatness.”

For it is the day of the Lord’s (L)vengeance,
The year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
(M)Its streams shall be turned into pitch,
And its dust into brimstone;
Its land shall become burning pitch.
10 It shall not be quenched night or day;
(N)Its smoke shall ascend forever.
(O)From generation to generation it shall lie waste;
No one shall pass through it forever and ever.
11 (P)But the [c]pelican and the [d]porcupine shall possess it,
Also the owl and the raven shall dwell in it.
And (Q)He shall stretch out over it
The line of confusion and the stones of emptiness.
12 They shall call its nobles to the kingdom,
But none shall be there, and all its princes shall be nothing.

13 And (R)thorns shall come up in its palaces,
Nettles and brambles in its fortresses;
(S)It shall be a habitation of jackals,
A courtyard for ostriches.
14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the [e]jackals,
And the wild goat shall bleat to its companion;
Also [f]the night creature shall rest there,
And find for herself a place of rest.
15 There the arrow snake shall make her nest and lay eggs
And hatch, and gather them under her shadow;
There also shall the hawks be gathered,
Every one with her mate.

16 “Search from (T)the book of the Lord, and read:
Not one of these shall fail;
Not one shall lack her mate.
For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them.
17 He has cast the lot for them,
And His hand has divided it among them with a measuring line.
They shall possess it forever;
From generation to generation they shall dwell in it.”
