Justice Will Rule
32 A king and his leaders
will rule with justice.
2 They will be a place of safety
from stormy winds,
a stream in the desert,
and a rock that gives shade
from the heat of the sun.
3 Then everyone who has eyes
will open them and see,
and those who have ears
will pay attention.
4 All who are impatient
will take time to think;
everyone who stutters
will talk clearly.
5 Fools will no longer
be highly respected,
and crooks won't be given
positions of honor.
6 Fools talk foolishness.
They always make plans
to do sinful things,
to lie about the Lord,
to let the hungry starve,
and to keep water from those
who are thirsty.
7 Cruel people tell lies—
they do evil things,
and make cruel plans
to destroy the poor and needy,
even when they beg
for justice.
8 But helpful people
can always be trusted
to make helpful plans.
Punishment for the Women of Jerusalem
9 Listen to what I say,
you women who are carefree
and careless!
10 You may not have worries now,
but in about a year,
the grape harvest will fail,
and you will tremble.
11 Shake and shudder,
you women without a care!
Strip off your clothes—
put on sackcloth.
12 Slap your breasts in sorrow
because of what happened
to the fruitful fields
and vineyards,
13 and to the happy homes
in Jerusalem.
The land of my people
is covered with thorns.
14 The palace will be deserted,
the crowded city empty.
Fortresses and towers
will forever become
playgrounds for wild donkeys
and pastures for sheep.
God's Spirit Makes the Difference
15 When the Spirit is given to us
from heaven,
deserts will become orchards
thick as fertile forests.
16 Honesty and justice
will prosper there,
17 and justice will produce
lasting peace and security.
18 You, the Lord's people,
will live in peace,
calm and secure,
19 even if hailstones flatten
forests and cities.
20 You will have God's blessing,
as you plant your crops
beside streams,
while your donkeys and cattle
roam freely about.

32 Siehe, ein König wird in Gerechtigkeit regieren, und Fürsten werden gemäß dem Recht herrschen;
2 und ein Mann wird sein wie ein Bergungsort vor dem Wind und wie ein Schutz vor dem Unwetter, wie Wasserbäche in einer dürren Gegend, wie der Schatten eines mächtigen Felsens in einem erschöpften Land.
3 Und die Augen der Sehenden werden nicht mehr zugeklebt sein, und die Ohren der Hörenden werden aufhorchen;
4 und das Herz der Unbesonnenen wird Einsicht gewinnen, und die Zunge der Stammelnden wird geläufig und verständlich reden.
5 Der gemeine Mensch wird dann nicht mehr ein Edler heißen, und der Betrüger wird nicht mehr vornehm genannt werden.
6 Denn der gemeine Mensch redet Gemeinheit, und sein Herz bereitet Böses vor, indem er ruchlos handelt und Irreführendes ausspricht über den Herrn, indem er die hungrige Seele leer lässt und dem Durstigen das Trinken verwehrt.
7 Und der Betrüger wendet schlimme Mittel an; er hat böse Anschläge im Sinn, um die Elenden durch erlogene Reden zugrunde zu richten, auch wenn der Arme sein Recht beweist.
8 Aber der Edle[a] hat Edles im Sinn, und er steht auch zu dem, was edel ist.
9 Kommt, ihr unbekümmerten Frauen, hört auf meine Stimme! Ihr sorglosen Töchter, vernehmt meine Rede!
10 Über Jahr und Tag[b] werdet ihr zittern, ihr Sorglosen! Denn aus ist"s mit der Weinlese, und die Obsternte wird nicht kommen.
11 Erschreckt, ihr Unbekümmerten, und erzittert, ihr Sorglosen! Entblößt euch, zieht euch aus, und legt [Sacktuch] um die Lenden!
12 Sie werden sich an die Brust schlagen[c] wegen der lieblichen Felder, wegen des fruchtbaren Weinstocks,
13 wegen der Äcker meines Volkes, die in Dornen und Disteln aufgehen, ja, wegen all der Häuser voll Freuden in der fröhlichen Stadt!
14 Denn der Palast ist aufgegeben und die lärmende Stadt verlassen, Ophel[d] und Wachturm sollen zu Höhlen werden für immer, eine Wonne für den Wildesel, eine Weide für die Herden —
15 so lange, bis der Geist aus der Höhe über uns ausgegossen wird. Dann wird die Wüste zum Fruchtgarten, und der Fruchtgarten wird wie Wald geachtet werden.
16 Und das Recht wird sich in der Wüste niederlassen und die Gerechtigkeit im Fruchtgarten wohnen;
17 und das Werk der Gerechtigkeit wird Friede sein und der Ertrag der Gerechtigkeit Ruhe und Sicherheit auf ewig.
18 Und mein Volk wird in Wohnorten des Friedens wohnen, in sicheren Wohnungen und an sorglosen Ruheorten.
19 Aber hageln muss es [zuvor], dass der Wald zusammenbricht und die Stadt tief erniedrigt wird.
20 Wohl euch, die ihr an allen Wassern sät und eure Rinder und Esel frei umherschweifen lasst!

32 „Atunci împăratul(A) va împărăţi cu dreptate şi voievozii vor cârmui cu nepărtinire. 2 Fiecare va fi ca un adăpost împotriva vântului şi ca un(B) loc de scăpare împotriva furtunii, ca nişte râuri de apă într-un loc uscat, ca umbra unei stânci mari într-un pământ ars de sete. 3 Ochii(C) celor ce văd nu vor mai fi legaţi şi urechile celor ce aud vor lua aminte. 4 Inima celor uşuratici va pricepe şi va înţelege şi limba gângavilor va vorbi iute şi desluşit. 5 Nebunul nu se va mai numi ales la suflet, nici mişelul nu se va mai numi cu inimă largă. 6 Căci nebunul spune nebunii şi inima lui gândeşte rău, ca să lucreze în chip nelegiuit şi să spună neadevăruri împotriva Domnului, ca să lase lihnit sufletul celui flămând şi să ia băutura celui însetat. 7 Armele mişelului sunt nimicitoare; el face planuri vinovate, ca să piardă pe cel nenorocit prin cuvinte mincinoase, chiar când pricina săracului este dreaptă. 8 Dar cel ales la suflet face planuri alese şi stăruie în planurile lui alese. – 9 Femei fără grijă(D), sculaţi-vă şi ascultaţi glasul meu! Fiice nepăsătoare, luaţi aminte la cuvântul meu! 10 Într-un an şi câteva zile, veţi tremura, nepăsătoarelor, căci se va duce culesul viilor şi strângerea poamelor nu va mai veni. 11 Îngroziţi-vă, voi, cele fără grijă! Tremuraţi, nepăsătoarelor! Dezbrăcaţi-vă, dezgoliţi-vă şi încingeţi-vă coapsele cu haine de jale! 12 Bateţi-vă pieptul, aducându-vă aminte de frumuseţea câmpiilor şi de rodnicia viilor. 13 Pe(E) pământul poporului meu cresc spini şi mărăcini, chiar şi în toate casele de plăcere ale cetăţii(F) celei vesele. 14 Casa împărătească(G) este părăsită, cetatea gălăgioasă este lăsată; dealul şi turnul vor sluji pe vecie ca peşteri; măgarii sălbatici se vor juca în ele şi turmele vor paşte 15 până când se va turna Duhul(H) de sus peste noi; atunci pustia(I) se va preface în pământ şi pomătul va fi privit ca o pădure. 16 Atunci, nepărtinirea va locui în pustie şi neprihănirea îşi va avea locuinţa în pomăt. 17 Lucrarea(J) neprihănirii va fi pacea; roadele neprihănirii: odihna şi liniştea pe vecie. 18 Poporul meu va locui în locuinţa păcii, în case fără grijă şi în adăposturi liniştite. 19 Dar pădurea va fi prăbuşită sub grindină şi cetatea(K) plecată adânc(L). 20 Ferice de voi, care semănaţi pretutindeni de-a lungul apelor şi care daţi drumul pretutindeni boului(M) şi măgarului!”

The Kingdom of Righteousness
32 See, a king(A) will reign in righteousness
and rulers will rule with justice.(B)
2 Each one will be like a shelter(C) from the wind
and a refuge from the storm,(D)
like streams of water(E) in the desert(F)
and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.
3 Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed,(G)
and the ears(H) of those who hear will listen.
4 The fearful heart will know and understand,(I)
and the stammering tongue(J) will be fluent and clear.
5 No longer will the fool(K) be called noble
nor the scoundrel be highly respected.
6 For fools speak folly,(L)
their hearts are bent on evil:(M)
They practice ungodliness(N)
and spread error(O) concerning the Lord;
the hungry they leave empty(P)
and from the thirsty they withhold water.
7 Scoundrels use wicked methods,(Q)
they make up evil schemes(R)
to destroy the poor with lies,
even when the plea of the needy(S) is just.(T)
8 But the noble make noble plans,
and by noble deeds(U) they stand.(V)
The Women of Jerusalem
9 You women(W) who are so complacent,
rise up and listen(X) to me;
you daughters who feel secure,(Y)
hear what I have to say!
10 In little more than a year(Z)
you who feel secure will tremble;
the grape harvest will fail,(AA)
and the harvest of fruit will not come.
11 Tremble,(AB) you complacent women;
shudder, you daughters who feel secure!(AC)
Strip off your fine clothes(AD)
and wrap yourselves in rags.(AE)
12 Beat your breasts(AF) for the pleasant fields,
for the fruitful vines(AG)
13 and for the land of my people,
a land overgrown with thorns and briers(AH)—
yes, mourn(AI) for all houses of merriment
and for this city of revelry.(AJ)
14 The fortress(AK) will be abandoned,
the noisy city deserted;(AL)
citadel and watchtower(AM) will become a wasteland forever,
the delight of donkeys,(AN) a pasture for flocks,(AO)
15 till the Spirit(AP) is poured on us from on high,
and the desert becomes a fertile field,(AQ)
and the fertile field seems like a forest.(AR)
16 The Lord’s justice(AS) will dwell in the desert,(AT)
his righteousness(AU) live in the fertile field.
17 The fruit of that righteousness(AV) will be peace;(AW)
its effect will be quietness and confidence(AX) forever.
18 My people will live in peaceful(AY) dwelling places,
in secure homes,(AZ)
in undisturbed places of rest.(BA)
19 Though hail(BB) flattens the forest(BC)
and the city is leveled(BD) completely,
20 how blessed you will be,
sowing(BE) your seed by every stream,(BF)
and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.(BG)
