Isaiah 32:13-18

New International Version

¹³and for the land of my people,
    a land overgrown with thorns and briers^(A)—
yes, mourn^(B) for all houses of merriment
    and for this city of revelry.^(C)
¹⁴The fortress^(D) will be abandoned,
    the noisy city deserted;^(E)
citadel and watchtower^(F) will become a wasteland forever,
    the delight of donkeys,^(G) a pasture for flocks,^(H)
¹⁵till the Spirit^(I) is poured on us from on high,
    and the desert becomes a fertile field,^(J)
    and the fertile field seems like a forest.^(K)
¹⁶The Lord’s justice^(L) will dwell in the desert,^(M)
    his righteousness^(N) live in the fertile field.
¹⁷The fruit of that righteousness^(O) will be peace;^(P)
    its effect will be quietness and confidence^(Q) forever.
¹⁸My people will live in peaceful^(R) dwelling places,
    in secure homes,^(S)
    in undisturbed places of rest.^(T)

¹⁷For if, by the trespass of the one man, death^(A) reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life^(B) through the one man, Jesus Christ!

¹⁸Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people,^(C) so also one righteous act resulted in justification^(D) and life^(E) for all people. ¹⁹For just as through the disobedience of the one man^(F) the many were made sinners,^(G) so also through the obedience^(H) of the one man the many will be made righteous.
