⁹ This is a trustworthy saying^(A) that deserves full acceptance. ¹⁰ That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God,^(B) who is the Savior of all people,^(C) and especially of those who believe.

¹¹ Command and teach these things.^{(D) 12} Don’t let anyone look down on you^(E) because you are young, but set an example^(F) for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith^(G) and in purity.

³ If anyone teaches otherwise^(A) and does not agree to the sound instruction^(B) of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, ⁴ they are conceited^(C) and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words^(D) that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions ⁵ and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth^(E) and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

¹⁵ These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

⁹ No one who is born of God^(A) will continue to sin,^(B) because God’s seed^(C) remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
