10 They say to the seers,(A)
    “See no more visions(B)!”
and to the prophets,
    “Give us no more visions of what is right!
Tell us pleasant things,(C)
    prophesy illusions.(D)

This is a trustworthy saying(A) that deserves full acceptance. 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God,(B) who is the Savior of all people,(C) and especially of those who believe.

11 Command and teach these things.(D) 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you(E) because you are young, but set an example(F) for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith(G) and in purity.

If anyone teaches otherwise(A) and does not agree to the sound instruction(B) of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited(C) and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words(D) that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth(E) and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
