But it will be that the multitude of your [a]enemies will become like fine (A)dust,
And the multitude of the (B)ruthless ones like the chaff which [b]blows away;
And it will happen (C)instantly, suddenly.
From Yahweh of hosts you will be (D)punished with (E)thunder and earthquake and loud noise,
With whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire.
And it will be that the (F)multitude of all the nations who wage war against [c]Ariel,
Even all who wage war against her and her stronghold, and who distress her,
Will be like a dream, a (G)vision of the night.
And it will be as when a hungry man dreams—
And behold, he is eating;
But he awakens, and his soul is empty,
Or as when a thirsty man dreams—
And behold, he is drinking,
But he awakens, and behold, he is faint,
And his soul is not quenched.
(H)Thus the multitude of all the nations will be
Who wage war against Mount Zion.

But your many foes will become like fine dust,
and the ruthless hordes like blowing chaff.
This will take place suddenly, in an instant.
You will be visited by the Lord of Armies
with thunder, earthquake, and a loud noise,
with a strong wind and a storm,
and with the flames of a devouring fire.
The hordes of nations that fight against Ariel,
all who fight against her and her stronghold,
all who besiege her—
all of them will be like a dream,
like a vision in the night.
They will be like a hungry man who dreams and sees himself eating,
but then he wakes up, and his hunger is not satisfied.
They will be like a thirsty man who dreams and sees himself drinking,
but then he wakes up and, sure enough, he is weak with thirst.
That is how it will be with the hordes of nations
    that fight against Mount Zion.
