Isaiah 27

The Redemption of Israel
27 In that day the Lord with his hard and great and strong (A)sword will punish (B)Leviathan the fleeing serpent, (C)Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay (D)the dragon that is in the sea.
2 In that day,
(E)“A pleasant vineyard,[a] (F)sing of it!
3 I, the Lord, am its keeper;
every moment I water it.
Lest anyone punish it,
I keep it night and day;
4 I have no wrath.
(G)Would that I had thorns and briers to battle!
I would march against them,
I would burn them up together.
5 Or let them lay hold of my protection,
let them make peace with me,
let them make peace with me.”
6 (H)In days to come[b] Jacob shall take root,
Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots
and fill the whole world with fruit.
7 (I)Has he struck them (J)as he struck those who struck them?
Or have they been slain (K)as their slayers were slain?
8 (L)Measure by measure,[c] by exile you contended with them;
(M)he removed them with his fierce breath[d] in the day of the east wind.
9 Therefore by this (N)the guilt of Jacob will be atoned for,
and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin:[e]
(O)when he makes all the stones of the altars
like chalkstones crushed to pieces,
no (P)Asherim or incense altars will remain standing.
10 (Q)For the fortified city is solitary,
a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness;
there the calf grazes;
there it lies down and strips its branches.
11 When its boughs are dry, they are broken;
women come and make a fire of them.
(R)For this is a people without discernment;
therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them;
he who formed them will show them no favor.
12 In that day (S)from the river Euphrates[f] to the Brook of Egypt the Lord will thresh out the grain, and you will be gleaned one by one, O people of Israel. 13 And in that day (T)a great trumpet will be blown, (U)and those who were lost in the land of Assyria and those who were driven out to the land of Egypt (V)will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain at Jerusalem.

27 Aquel día el Señor castigará[a]
con su espada feroz(A), grande y poderosa,
a Leviatán[b], serpiente huidiza,
a Leviatán[c](B), serpiente tortuosa,
y matará al dragón que vive en el mar(C).
2 Aquel día se dirá:
Una viña de vino[d](D); de ella cantad.
3 Yo, el Señor, soy su guardador;
a cada momento la riego(E).
Para que nadie la dañe[e],
la guardo(F) noche y día.
4 No tengo furor.
Si alguien[f] me da zarzas y espinos(G) en batalla,
los pisotearé, los quemaré completamente[g](H),
5 a no ser que[h] él confíe en[i] mi protección(I),
que haga la paz conmigo,
que conmigo haga la paz(J).
6 En los días[j] venideros Jacob echará raíces(K),
Israel florecerá(L) y brotará,
y llenará el mundo entero[k] de fruto(M).
7 ¿Acaso con la herida del que lo hirió fue herido(N),
o como con la matanza de sus muertos fue muerto?
8 Contendiste con él desterrándolo[l], expulsándolo(O).
Con su soplo violento lo echó en el día del viento solano(P).
9 Así pues, con esto la iniquidad de Jacob será perdonada[m](Q),
y este será todo el fruto del perdón[n] de su pecado(R):
cuando haga todas las piedras del altar como piedras de cal pulverizadas;
cuando no estén en pie las Aseras[o] y los altares de incienso[p](S).
10 Porque solitaria está la ciudad fortificada(T),
una morada[q] desamparada y abandonada como un desierto;
allí pastará el becerro,
y allí se echará y se alimentará de[r] sus ramas(U).
11 Cuando su ramaje está seco, es quebrado(V),
vienen las mujeres y le prenden fuego.
Porque no es pueblo de discernimiento(W),
por tanto su Hacedor no le tendrá compasión,
y su Creador(X) no tendrá piedad de él(Y).
12 Y sucederá en aquel día que el Señor trillará(Z) desde la corriente del Eufrates[s] hasta el torrente de Egipto(AA), y vosotros seréis recogidos(AB) uno a uno, oh hijos de Israel. 13 Sucederá también en aquel día que se tocará una gran trompeta(AC), y los que perecían en la tierra de Asiria y los desterrados en la tierra de Egipto(AD), vendrán y adorarán al Señor en el monte santo en Jerusalén(AE).
