On this mountain,[a](A)
the Lord of Armies will prepare for all the peoples a feast of choice meat,(B)
a feast with aged wine, prime cuts of choice meat,[b] fine vintage wine.
On this mountain
he will swallow up the burial shroud,
the shroud over all the peoples,
the sheet covering all the nations.(C)
When he has swallowed up death once and for all,(D)
the Lord God will wipe away the tears
from every face(E)
and remove his people’s disgrace(F)
from the whole earth,
for the Lord has spoken.

On that day it will be said,
“Look, this is our God;
we have waited for him, and he has saved us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him.
Let’s rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”(G)
10 For the Lord’s power will rest on this mountain.
But Moab(H) will be trampled in his place[c]
as straw is trampled in a dung pile.

11 He will spread out his arms in the middle of it,
as a swimmer spreads out his arms to swim.
His pride will be brought low,
along with the trickery of his hands.(I)
12 The high-walled fortress will be brought down,
thrown to the ground, to the dust.(J)

  1. 25:6 = Mount Zion
  2. 25:6 Lit wine, fat full of marrow
  3. 25:10 Or trampled under him

And on this mountain Yahweh of hosts will make for all peoples a rich feast,[a]
    a feast of aged wines, fat filled with marrow, filtered aged wine.
And on this mountain he will destroy[b] the face of the shroud,
    the shroud over all peoples,
    and the woven covering over all nations.
He will destroy[c] death forever,
    and the Lord Yahweh will wipe off the tears from all faces,
    and he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth,

for Yahweh has spoken.

And one will say, on that day,

“Look! This is our God! We have waited for him and he saved us!
    This is Yahweh; we waited for him!
Let us be glad,
    and let us rejoice in his salvation.”
10 For the hand of Yahweh will rest on this mountain,
    and Moab shall be trampled down under him
        as a heap of straw is trampled down[d] in waters of[e] a dung heap.
11 And it[f] will spread out its hands in the midst of it,
    just as the swimmer spreads out to swim,
        and its pride will be brought low with the movement[g] of its hands.
12 And he will throw down the fortification of the high point of your walls;
    he will bring it low;
he will send it[h] to the ground,
    to the dust.
