Isaiah 24

Judgment on the Whole Earth
24 Behold, (A)the Lord will empty the earth[a] and make it desolate,
and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.
2 (B)And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest;
as with the slave, so with his master;
as with the maid, so with her mistress;
(C)as with the buyer, so with the seller;
as with the lender, so with the borrower;
(D)as with the creditor, so with the debtor.
3 (E)The earth shall be utterly empty and utterly plundered;
(F)for the Lord has spoken this word.
4 (G)The earth mourns and withers;
the world languishes and withers;
the highest people of the earth languish.
5 The earth lies (H)defiled
under its inhabitants;
for (I)they have transgressed the laws,
violated the statutes,
broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore (J)a curse devours the earth,
and its inhabitants (K)suffer for their guilt;
therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched,
and few men are left.
7 (L)The wine mourns,
the vine languishes,
all the merry-hearted sigh.
8 (M)The mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
9 No more do they drink wine (N)with singing;
strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
10 (O)The wasted city is broken down;
(P)every house is shut up so that none can enter.
11 (Q)There is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine;
(R)all joy has grown dark;
the gladness of the earth is banished.
12 Desolation is left in the city;
the gates are battered into ruins.
13 For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth
among the nations,
(S)as when an olive tree is beaten,
as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is done.
14 They lift up their voices, they sing for joy;
over the majesty of the Lord they shout from the west.[b]
15 (T)Therefore in the east[c] give glory to the Lord;
in the coastlands of the sea, give glory to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
16 (U)From the ends of the earth we hear songs of praise,
of glory to (V)the Righteous One.
But I say, “I waste away,
I waste away. Woe is me!
For (W)the traitors have betrayed,
with betrayal the traitors have betrayed.”
17 (X)Terror and the pit and the snare[d]
are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth!
18 (Y)He who flees at the sound of the terror
shall fall into the pit,
and he who climbs out of the pit
shall be caught in the snare.
For (Z)the windows of heaven are opened,
and (AA)the foundations of the earth tremble.
19 The earth is utterly broken,
the earth is split apart,
the earth is violently shaken.
20 The earth (AB)staggers like a drunken man;
it sways like a hut;
(AC)its transgression lies heavy upon it,
and it falls, and will not rise again.
21 On that day the Lord will punish
the host of heaven, in heaven,
and (AD)the kings of the earth, on the earth.
22 (AE)They will be gathered together
as prisoners in a pit;
they will be shut up in a prison,
and after many days (AF)they will be punished.
23 (AG)Then the moon will be confounded
and the sun ashamed,
for (AH)the Lord of hosts reigns
on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem,
and his glory will be before his elders.

11 在 街 上 因 酒 有 悲 叹 的 声 音 ； 一 切 喜 乐 变 为 昏 暗 ； 地 上 的 欢 乐 归 於 无 有 。
12 城 中 只 有 荒 凉 ； 城 门 拆 毁 净 尽 。
13 在 地 上 的 万 民 中 ， 必 像 打 过 的 橄 榄 树 ， 又 像 已 摘 的 葡 萄 所 剩 无 几 。

18 躲 避 恐 惧 声 音 的 必 坠 入 陷 坑 ； 从 陷 坑 上 来 的 必 被 网 罗 缠 住 ； 因 为 天 上 的 窗 户 都 开 了 ， 地 的 根 基 也 震 动 了 。
19 地 全 然 破 坏 ， 尽 都 崩 裂 ， 大 大 地 震 动 了 。
20 地 要 东 倒 西 歪 ， 好 像 醉 酒 的 人 ； 又 摇 来 摇 去 ， 好 像 吊 床 。 罪 过 在 其 上 沉 重 ， 必 然 塌 陷 ， 不 能 复 起 。
21 到 那 日 ， 耶 和 华 在 高 处 必 惩 罚 高 处 的 众 军 ， 在 地 上 必 惩 罚 地 上 的 列 王 。
22 他 们 必 被 聚 集 ， 像 囚 犯 被 聚 在 牢 狱 中 ， 并 要 囚 在 监 牢 里 ， 多 日 之 後 便 被 讨 罪 （ 或 译 ： 眷 顾 ） 。

24 Sjá, Drottinn tæmir jörðina og eyðir hana, hann umhverfir ásjónu hennar og tvístrar íbúum hennar.
2 Eitt gengur yfir prest og alþýðu, yfir húsbónda og þjón, yfir húsfreyju og þernu, yfir seljanda og kaupanda, yfir lánsala og lánþega, yfir okrarann og skuldunaut hans.
3 Jörðin skal verða altæmd og gjörsamlega rænd, því að Drottinn hefir talað þetta.
4 Jörðin viknar og kiknar, heimur bliknar og kiknar, tignarmenni lýðsins á jörðu blikna.
5 Jörðin vanhelgast undir fótum þeirra, er á henni búa, því að þeir hafa brotið lögin, brjálað boðorðunum og rofið sáttmálann eilífa.
6 Þess vegna eyðir bölvun jörðinni og íbúar hennar gjalda fyrir það. Þess vegna farast íbúar jarðarinnar af hita, svo að fátt manna er eftir orðið.
7 Vínberjalögurinn sýtir, vínviðurinn visnar, nú andvarpa allir þeir sem áður voru af hjarta glaðir.
8 Gleðihljóð bumbnanna er þagnað, hávaði hinna glaðværu hættur, gleðiómur gígjunnar þagnaður.
9 Menn sitja ekki syngjandi að víndrykkju, þeim sem drekka áfengan drykk, finnst hann beiskur.
10 Borgirnar eru lagðar í eyði, öll hús lokuð, svo að ekki verður inn komist.
11 Á strætunum er harmakvein af vínskortinum, öll gleði er horfin, fögnuður landsins flúinn.
12 Auðnin ein er eftir í borginni, borgarhliðin eru mölbrotin.
13 Því að á jörðinni miðri, á meðal þjóðanna, skal svo fara sem þá er olíuviður er skekinn, sem við eftirtíning að loknum vínberjalestri.
14 Þeir hefja upp raust sína og fagna. Yfir hátign Drottins gjalla gleðiópin í vestri.
15 Vegsamið þess vegna Drottin á austurvegum, nafn Drottins, Ísraels Guðs, á ströndum hafsins!
16 Frá ysta jaðri jarðarinnar heyrðum vér lofsöngva: "Dýrð sé hinum réttláta!" En ég sagði: "Æ, mig auman! Æ, mig auman! Vei mér!" Ránsmenn ræna, ránum ránsmenn ræna.
17 Geigur, gröf og gildra koma yfir þig, jarðarbúi.
18 Sá sem flýr undan hinum geigvæna gný, fellur í gröfina, og sá sem kemst upp úr gröfinni, festist í gildrunni, því að flóðgáttirnar á hæðum ljúkast upp og grundvöllur jarðarinnar skelfur.
19 Jörðin brestur og gnestur, jörðin rofnar og klofnar, jörðin riðar og iðar.
20 Jörðin skjögrar eins og drukkinn maður, henni svipar til og frá eins og vökuskýli. Misgjörð hennar liggur þungt á henni, hún hnígur og fær eigi risið upp framar.
21 Á þeim degi mun Drottinn vitja hers hæðanna á hæðum og konunga jarðarinnar á jörðu.
22 Þeim skal varpað verða í gryfju, eins og fjötruðum bandingjum, og þeir skulu byrgðir verða í dýflissu. Eftir langa stund skal þeim hegnt verða.
23 Þá mun máninn fyrirverða sig og sólin blygðast sín, því að Drottinn allsherjar sest að völdum á Síonfjalli og í Jerúsalem, og fyrir augliti öldunga hans mun dýrð ljóma.
