13 The oracle concerning the desert plain.

In the scrub of the desert plain you will lodge,
    O caravans of Dedanites.(A)
14 Bring water to the thirsty,
    O inhabitants of the land of Tema;
    meet the fugitive with bread.(B)
15 For they have fled from the swords,
    from the drawn sword,
from the bent bow,
and from the stress of battle.(C)

16 For thus the Lord said to me: “Within a year, according to the years of a hired worker, all the glory of Kedar will come to an end,(D) 17 and the remaining bows of Kedar’s warriors will be few, for the Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken.”(E)

A Message about Arabia

13 A message[a] concerning Arabia.

“You will camp in the thickets in Arabia,
    you caravans of the Dedanites.
14 Bring water for the thirsty,
you who live in the land of Tema.
        Meet the fugitive with bread,[b]
15 For he has fled[c] from swords,
    from the drawn sword,
from the bent bow,
and from the heat of battle.”

16 For this is what the Lord[d] is saying to me: “Within three years,[e] according to the years of a contract worker,[f] the pomp[g] of Kedar will come to an end. 17 And there will be few archers, those who are descendants of Kedar, who survive, because the Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken.”
