The Future House of God(A)
2 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 Now (B)it shall come to pass (C)in the latter days
(D)That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.
3 Many people shall come and say,
(E)“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
(F)For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning [a]hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.
The Day of the Lord
5 O house of Jacob, come and let us (G)walk
In the light of the Lord.
6 For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob,
Because they are filled (H)with eastern ways;
They are (I)soothsayers like the Philistines,
(J)And they [b]are pleased with the children of foreigners.
7 (K)Their land is also full of silver and gold,
And there is no end to their treasures;
Their land is also full of horses,
And there is no end to their chariots.
8 (L)Their land is also full of idols;
They worship the work of their own hands,
That which their own fingers have made.
9 People bow down,
And each man humbles himself;
Therefore do not forgive them.
10 (M)Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust,
From the terror of the Lord
And the glory of His majesty.
11 The [c]lofty looks of man shall be (N)humbled,
The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down,
And the Lord alone shall be exalted (O)in that day.
12 For the day of the Lord of hosts
Shall come upon everything proud and lofty,
Upon everything lifted up—
And it shall be brought low—
13 Upon all (P)the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up,
And upon all the oaks of Bashan;
14 (Q)Upon all the high mountains,
And upon all the hills that are lifted up;
15 Upon every high tower,
And upon every fortified wall;
16 (R)Upon all the ships of Tarshish,
And upon all the beautiful sloops.
17 The [d]loftiness of man shall be bowed down,
And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low;
The Lord alone will be exalted in that day,
18 But the idols [e]He shall utterly abolish.
19 They shall go into the (S)holes of the rocks,
And into the caves of the [f]earth,
(T)From the terror of the Lord
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises (U)to shake the earth mightily.
20 In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver
And his idols of gold,
Which they made, each for himself to worship,
To the moles and bats,
21 To go into the clefts of the rocks,
And into the crags of the rugged rocks,
From the terror of the Lord
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
22 (V)Sever[g] yourselves from such a man,
Whose (W)breath is in his nostrils;
For [h]of what account is he?

The Mountain of the Lord
2 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 (A)It shall come to pass in the latter days
that (B)the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and (C)all the nations shall flow to it,
3 and (D)many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
For (E)out of Zion shall go forth the law,[a]
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
(F)and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
(G)nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.
5 O house of Jacob,
come, let us walk
in (H)the light of the Lord.
The Day of the Lord
6 For you have rejected your people,
the house of Jacob,
because they are full of things (I)from the east
and (J)of fortune-tellers (K)like the Philistines,
and they (L)strike hands with the children of foreigners.
7 Their land is (M)filled with silver and gold,
and there is no end to their treasures;
their land is (N)filled with horses,
and there is no end to their chariots.
8 Their land is (O)filled with idols;
they bow down to (P)the work of their hands,
to what their own fingers have made.
9 So man (Q)is humbled,
and each one (R)is brought low—
do not forgive them!
10 (S)Enter into the rock
and hide in the dust

and from the splendor of his majesty.

against all that is proud and lofty,
against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;

lofty and lifted up;
and against all the (X)oaks of Bashan;
14 against all (Y)the lofty mountains,
and against all the uplifted hills;
15 against every high tower,
and against every fortified wall;
16 against all (Z)the ships of Tarshish,
and against all the beautiful craft.
17 (AA)And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled,
and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low,
and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.
18 (AB)And the idols shall utterly pass away.
19 (AC)And people shall enter the caves of the rocks
and the holes of the ground,[b]
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
(AD)when he rises to terrify the earth.
20 In that day (AE)mankind will cast away
their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
which they made for themselves to worship,
to the moles and to the (AF)bats,
21 (AG)to enter the caverns of the rocks
and the clefts of the cliffs,
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
(AH)when he rises to terrify the earth.
22 (AI)Stop regarding man
(AJ)in whose nostrils is breath,
for of what account is he?

Vrede voor alle volken
2 Dit is wat Jesaja in zijn geest zag over wat er met Juda en Jeruzalem gaat gebeuren.
2 Als het eind van de tijd is gekomen, zal de berg waarop de tempel van de Heer staat de hoogste berg zijn. Hij zal hoger zijn dan de hoogste bergen, indrukwekkender dan de hoogste heuvels. Alle volken zullen daarheen gaan. 3 Ze zullen zeggen: 'Kom, laten we naar de berg van de Heer gaan, naar de tempel van de God van Jakob.[a] Want we willen van Hem leren hoe we moeten leven. We willen leven zoals Hij het wil. Want vanuit Jeruzalem zal de Heer zijn wil bekend maken.'
4 Hij zal rechtspreken over de landen en volken. Dan zullen zij hun zwaarden omsmeden tot ploegen. En hun speren zullen ze omsmeden tot snoeischaren. De volken zullen niet meer tegen elkaar strijden. Ze zullen hun bewoners niet meer leren oorlogvoeren.
5 Kom, volk van Israël, laten we wandelen in het licht van de Heer.
Gods straf over de mensen
6 Jesaja zegt: Heer, U heeft uw volk, het volk Israël, verlaten. U heeft hen verlaten omdat ze de godsdiensten van de volken in het oosten hebben overgenomen. En ze doen aan waarzeggerij, net als de Filistijnen. En ze sluiten verbonden met buitenlanders.[b] 7 Het land Israël is vol zilver en goud en ontelbare schatten. Er zijn ook ontelbaar veel paarden en strijdwagens. 8 Ook is het land vol godenbeelden. De mensen aanbidden hun zelfgemaakte goden. 9 Iedereen, van hoog tot laag, buigt zich daarvoor. Dat zult U hun niet vergeven.
10 Verstop je in de rotskloven! Verberg je in holen onder de grond, uit angst voor de Heer en voor zijn schitterende macht en majesteit! 11 De mensen zullen hun trotse ogen moeten neerslaan. De trotse mensen zullen moeten buigen. Want ze zullen zien dat alleen God de hoogste Heer is. 12 Op de dag van de Heer[c] zal iedereen die trots en eigenwijs is, moeten buigen voor de Heer van de hemelse legers. 13 Alles zal moeten buigen: ook de trotse en hoge cederbomen van de Libanon, de eikenbomen van Basan, 14 de trotse bergen en de hoge heuvels, 15 de hoge torens en de sterke muren, 16 de schepen van Tarsis en de prachtige versieringen. 17 Alles waar de mensen trots op zijn, zal moeten buigen. En alle trotse mensen zullen moeten buigen. Op die dag zullen ze toegeven dat God de hoogste Heer is. 18 Er zal geen enkele afgod overblijven.
19 Dan zullen de mensen wegkruipen in grotten in de bergen en in holen onder de grond. Dat doen ze uit angst voor de Heer en voor zijn schitterende macht en majesteit, als Hij in zijn volle glorie opstaat om de aarde te doen beven. 20 Op die dag zullen ze de zilveren en gouden godenbeelden die ze hadden gemaakt en hadden aanbeden, aan de ratten en vleermuizen overlaten. 21 En ze zullen vluchten naar de grotten en holen uit angst voor de Heer en voor zijn schitterende macht en majesteit, als Hij in zijn volle glorie opstaat om de aarde te doen beven.
22 Stop met op mensen te vertrouwen. Mensen zijn sterfelijk. Wat is een mens nu eigenlijk waard?

- Jesaja 2:6 God had zijn volk verboden om een verbond te sluiten met andere volken, omdat zulke verbonden zouden leiden tot het aanbidden van de afgoden van die volken. Met die verbonden worden ook huwelijken bedoeld. Lees Exodus 34:11-16.

Gloire future de Jérusalem
2 Prophétie d'Esaïe, fils d'Amots, sur Juda et Jérusalem.
2 *Il arrivera, dans l’avenir,
que la montagne de la maison de l'Eternel
sera fondée au sommet des montagnes.
Elle s'élèvera au-dessus des collines
et toutes les nations y afflueront.
3 Des peuples s'y rendront en foule et diront:
«Venez, montons à la montagne de l'Eternel,
à la maison du Dieu de Jacob!
Il nous enseignera ses voies
et nous marcherons dans ses sentiers.»
En effet, c’est de Sion que sortira la loi,
et de Jérusalem la parole de l'Eternel.
4 Il sera le juge des nations,
l'arbitre d'un grand nombre de peuples.
Ceux-ci mettront en pièces leurs épées pour en faire des socs de charrue,
et leurs lances pour en faire des serpes.
Aucune nation ne prendra plus les armes contre une autre
et l'on n'apprendra plus à faire la guerre.[a]
5 Famille de Jacob,
venez et marchons à la lumière de l'Eternel!
Jugement des idolâtres et des orgueilleux
6 Oui, tu as abandonné ton peuple, la famille de Jacob,
parce qu'ils sont remplis de l'Orient,
de personnes pratiquant la magie comme les Philistins,
parce qu'ils tendent la main aux enfants étrangers.
7 Son pays est rempli d'argent et d'or,
de trésors sans fin;
son pays est rempli de chevaux,
de chars en nombre incalculable.
8 Son pays est rempli de faux dieux:
ils se prosternent devant ce que leurs mains ont fait,
devant ce que leurs doigts ont fabriqué!
9 Les petits devront s’incliner et les grands seront abaissés:
tu ne leur pardonneras pas!
10 Entre dans les grottes,
cache-toi dans la poussière
pour échapper à la terreur que provoque l'Eternel
et à la splendeur de sa majesté! 11 L'être humain sera abaissé, avec son regard hautain,
la grandeur des hommes devra s’incliner.
L’Eternel seul sera élevé, ce jour-là.
12 En effet, l'Eternel, le maître de l’univers, s’est réservé un jour
contre tout homme orgueilleux et hautain,
contre tous ceux qui s'élèvent, afin qu'ils soient abaissés,
13 contre tous les cèdres du Liban, quelles que soient leur taille et leur hauteur,
et tous les chênes du Basan,
14 contre toutes les hautes montagnes
et toutes les collines élevées,
15 contre toutes les hautes tours
et toutes les murailles fortifiées,
16 contre tous les bateaux long-courriers
et tous les navires splendides.
17 L’orgueil de l’homme devra s’incliner,
sa grandeur sera abaissée:
l'Eternel seul sera élevé, ce jour-là.
18 Tous les faux dieux disparaîtront.
19 On entrera dans les grottes des rochers
et on s’enfoncera dans la poussière
pour échapper à la terreur que provoquera l'Eternel et à la splendeur de sa majesté,
quand il se lèvera pour terrifier la terre.
20 Ce jour-là, les hommes jetteront
aux taupes et aux chauves-souris
leurs faux dieux en argent et en or,
qu'ils s'étaient fabriqués pour les adorer.
21 Ils se glisseront dans les fentes des falaises
et dans les creux des rochers
pour échapper à la terreur de l'Eternel et à la splendeur de sa majesté,
quand il se lèvera pour terrifier la terre.
22 Arrêtez de placer votre confiance dans l’être humain!
Sa vie n’est qu’un souffle!
