God’s Universal Reign

2 The word which ^(A)Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

²Now it will come about that
^(B)In the last days
The ^(C)mountain of the house of the Lord
Will be established ^[a]as the chief of the mountains,
And will be raised above the hills;
And ^(D)all the nations will stream to it.
³And many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
So that He may teach us ^[b]about His ways,
And that we may walk in His paths.”
For ^[c]the law will go out ^(E)from Zion
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
⁴And He will judge between the nations,
And will mediate for many peoples;
And ^(F)they will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning knives.
^(G)Nation will not lift up a sword against nation,
And never again will they learn war.

⁵Come, ^(H)house of Jacob, and let’s walk in the ^(I)light of the Lord.
⁶For You have ^(J)abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob,
Because they are filled with influences from the east,
And they are soothsayers ^(K)like the Philistines.
They also ^[d]^(L)strike bargains with the children of foreigners.
⁷Their land has also been filled with silver and gold
And there is no end to their treasures;
Their land has also been filled with ^(M)horses,
And there is no end to their chariots.
⁸Their land has also been ^(N)filled with idols;
They worship the ^(O)work of their hands,
That which their fingers have made.
⁹So ^(P)the common person has been humbled
And the person of importance has been brought low,
But ^(Q)do not forgive them.
¹⁰^(R)Enter the rocky place and hide in the dust
^(S)From the terror of the Lord and from the splendor of His majesty.
¹¹The ^[e]^(T)proud look of humanity will be brought low,
And the ^(U)arrogance of people will be humbled;
And the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

A Day of Reckoning Coming

¹²For the Lord of armies will have a day of reckoning
Against ^(V)everyone who is arrogant and haughty,
And against everyone who is lifted up,
That he may be brought low.
¹³And it will be against all the cedars of Lebanon that are lofty and lifted up,
Against all the ^(W)oaks of Bashan,
¹⁴Against all the ^(X)lofty mountains,
Against all the hills that are lifted up,
¹⁵Against every ^(Y)high tower,
Against every fortified wall,
¹⁶Against all the ^(Z)ships of Tarshish
And against all the delightful ships.
¹⁷And the pride of humanity will be humbled
And the arrogance of people will be brought low;
And the Lord alone will be exalted on that day,
¹⁸And the ^(AA)idols will completely vanish.
¹⁹People will ^(AB)go into caves of the rocks
And into holes in the ^[f]ground
Away from the terror of the Lord
And the splendor of His majesty,
When He arises ^(AC)to terrify the earth.
²⁰On that day people will ^(AD)throw away to the moles and the ^(AE)bats
Their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
Which they made for themselves to worship,
²¹In order to ^(AF)go into the clefts of the rocks and the crannies of the cliffs
Before the terror of the Lord and the splendor of His majesty,
When He arises to terrify the earth.
²²^[g]^(AG)Take no account of man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils;
For ^[h]^(AH)why should he be esteemed?

The River and the Tree of Life

22 And ^(A)he showed me a ^(B)river of the ^(C)water of life, ^[a]clear ^(D)as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of ^[b]the Lamb, ²in the middle of ^(E)its street. ^(F)On either side of the river was ^(G)the tree of life, bearing twelve ^[c]kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. ³^(H)There will no longer be any curse; and ^(I)the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will ^(J)serve Him; ⁴they will ^(K)see His face, and His ^(L)name will be on their ^(M)foreheads. ⁵And ^(N)there will no longer be any night; and they ^[d]will not have need ^(O)of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illuminate them; and they will ^(P)reign forever and ever.

⁶And ^(Q)he said to me, “^(R)These words are faithful and true”; and the Lord, the ^(S)God of the spirits of the prophets, ^(T)sent His angel to show His bond-servants the things which must soon take place.

⁷“And behold, ^(U)I am coming quickly. ^(V)Blessed is the one who ^[e]keeps ^(W)the words of the prophecy of this book.”

⁸^(X)I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, ^(Y)I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things. ⁹And ^(Z)he *said to me, “^[f]Do not do that; I am a ^(AA)fellow servant of yours and of your brothers the prophets, and of those who ^[g]keep the words of ^(AB)this book. Worship God!”

The Final Message

¹⁰And he *said to me, “^(AC)Do not seal up ^(AD)the words of the prophecy of this book, ^(AE)for the time is near. ¹¹^(AF)Let the one who does wrong still do wrong, and the one who is filthy still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous still practice righteousness, and the one who is holy still keep himself holy.”

¹²“Behold, ^(AG)I am coming quickly, and My ^(AH)reward is with Me, ^(AI)to reward each one as his work ^[h]deserves. ¹³I am the ^(AJ)Alpha and the Omega, ^(AK)the first and the last, ^(AL)the beginning and the end.”

¹⁴Blessed are those who ^(AM)wash their robes, so that they will have the right to ^(AN)the tree of life, and may ^(AO)enter the city by the ^(AP)gates. ¹⁵^(AQ)Outside are the ^(AR)dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

¹⁶“^(AS)I, Jesus, have sent ^(AT)My angel to testify to you of these things ^[i]^(AU)for the churches. I am ^(AV)the root and the ^(AW)descendant of David, the bright ^(AX)morning star.”

¹⁷The ^(AY)Spirit and the ^(AZ)bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And ^(BA)let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires, take the ^(BB)water of life without cost.
