Isaiah 19:18-20:6

New International Version

¹⁸ In that day^(A) five cities^(B) in Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance^(C) to the Lord Almighty. One of them will be called the City of the Sun.^[a](D)

¹⁹ In that day^(E) there will be an altar^(F) to the Lord in the heart of Egypt,^(G) and a monument^(H) to the Lord at its border. ²⁰ It will be a sign and witness^(I) to the Lord Almighty in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, he will send them a savior^(J) and defender, and he will rescue^(K) them. ²¹ So the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge^(L) the Lord. They will worship^(M) with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the Lord and keep them.^{(N) 22} The Lord will strike^(O) Egypt with a plague;^(P) he will strike them and heal them. They will turn^(Q) to the Lord, and he will respond to their pleas and heal^(R) them.

²³ In that day^(S) there will be a highway^(T) from Egypt to Assyria.^(U) The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship^(V) together. ²⁴ In that day^(W) Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria,^(X) a blessing^[b](Y) on the earth. ²⁵ The Lord Almighty will bless^(Z) them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people,^(AA) Assyria my handiwork,^(AB) and Israel my inheritance.^(AC)”

A Prophecy Against Egypt and Cush

20 In the year that the supreme commander,^(AD) sent by Sargon king of Assyria, came to Ashdod^(AE) and attacked and captured it— ² at that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz.^(AF) He said to him, “Take off the sackcloth^(AG) from your body and the sandals^(AH) from your feet.” And he did so, going around stripped^(AI) and barefoot.^(AJ)

³ Then the Lord said, “Just as my servant^(AK) Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years,^(AL) as a sign^(AM) and portent^(AN) against Egypt^(AO) and Cush,^{[c](AP) 4} so the king^(AQ) of Assyria will lead away stripped^(AR) and barefoot the Egyptian captives^(AS) and Cushite^(AT) exiles, young and old, with buttocks bared^(AU)—to Egypt’s shame.^{(AV) 5} Those who trusted^(AW) in Cush^(AX) and boasted in Egypt^(AY) will be dismayed and put to shame.^{(AZ) 6} In that day^(BA) the people who live on this coast will say, ‘See what has happened^(BB) to those we relied on,^(BC) those we fled to for help^(BD) and deliverance from the king of Assyria! How then can we escape?^(BE)’”
