⁸ They will not look to the altars,^(A)
    the work of their hands,^(B)
and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles^[a](C)
    and the incense altars their fingers^(D) have made.

⁹ By this, then, will Jacob’s guilt be atoned^(A) for,
    and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin:^(B)
When he makes all the altar stones^(C)
    to be like limestone crushed to pieces,
no Asherah poles^[a](D) or incense altars^(E)
    will be left standing.

¹³ I will destroy your idols^(A)
    and your sacred stones from among you;^(B)
you will no longer bow down
    to the work of your hands.^(C)
14 I will uproot from among you your Asherah poles^[a](D)
    when I demolish your cities.

“When I destroy all mankind
    on the face of the earth,”^(C)
declares the Lord,^(D)

⁸ Ephraim, what more have I^[a] to do with idols?^(A)
    I will answer him and care for him.
I am like a flourishing juniper;^(B)
    your fruitfulness comes from me.”
