How the oppressor^(F) has come to an end!
    How his fury^[a] has ended!
⁵ The Lord has broken the rod^(G) of the wicked,^(H)
    the scepter^(I) of the rulers,
⁶ which in anger struck down peoples^(J)
    with unceasing blows,
and in fury subdued^(K) nations
    with relentless aggression.^(L)
7 All the lands are at rest and at peace;^(M)
    they break into singing.^(N)

²¹ “I will save^(A) you from the hands of the wicked^(B)
    and deliver^(C) you from the grasp of the cruel.”^(D)

¹¹ For the Lord will deliver Jacob
    and redeem^(A) them from the hand of those stronger^(B) than they.

¹⁹ He who is the Portion^(A) of Jacob is not like these,
    for he is the Maker of all things,
including the people of his inheritance^(B)—
    the Lord Almighty is his name.

“See, I will defend your cause^(A)
    and avenge^(B) you;
I will dry up^(C) her sea
    and make her springs dry.
