Isaiah 13:11-20
New International Version
11 I will punish(A) the world for its evil,
the wicked(B) for their sins.
I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty(C)
and will humble(D) the pride of the ruthless.(E)
12 I will make people(F) scarcer than pure gold,
more rare than the gold of Ophir.(G)
13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;(H)
and the earth will shake(I) from its place
at the wrath(J) of the Lord Almighty,
in the day of his burning anger.(K)
14 Like a hunted(L) gazelle,
like sheep without a shepherd,(M)
they will all return to their own people,
they will flee(N) to their native land.(O)
15 Whoever is captured will be thrust through;
all who are caught will fall(P) by the sword.(Q)
16 Their infants(R) will be dashed to pieces before their eyes;
their houses will be looted and their wives violated.(S)
17 See, I will stir up(T) against them the Medes,(U)
who do not care for silver
and have no delight in gold.(V)
18 Their bows(W) will strike down the young men;(X)
they will have no mercy(Y) on infants,
nor will they look with compassion on children.(Z)
19 Babylon,(AA) the jewel of kingdoms,(AB)
the pride and glory(AC) of the Babylonians,[a]
will be overthrown(AD) by God
like Sodom and Gomorrah.(AE)
20 She will never be inhabited(AF)
or lived in through all generations;
there no nomads(AG) will pitch their tents,
there no shepherds will rest their flocks.
