Isaiah 11:2-4
Contemporary English Version
2 The Spirit of the Lord
will be with him
to give him understanding,
wisdom, and insight.
He will be powerful,
and he will know
and honor the Lord.
3 His greatest joy will be
to obey the Lord.
This king won't judge
by appearances
or listen to rumors.
4 The poor and the needy
will be treated with fairness
and with justice.
His word will be law
everywhere in the land,
and criminals
will be put to death.
Isaiah 11:2-4
English Standard Version
2 And (A)the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.
(B)He shall not judge by (C)what his eyes see,
or decide disputes by (D)what his ears hear,
4 but (E)with righteousness he shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
and he shall (F)strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and (G)with the breath of his lips (H)he shall kill the wicked.
