¹² When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he^[a] will punish the arrogant boasting of the king of Assyria and his haughty pride.^(A)

¹⁸ Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land as I punished the king of Assyria.

³¹ for from Jerusalem a remnant shall go out and from Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.^(A)

¹⁷ For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; if it begins with us, what will be the end for those who do not obey the gospel of God?^(A)

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.^(A)

A Tree and Its Fruit

³³ “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.^(A)

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven,

¹⁴ All this is in order that no trees by the waters may grow to lofty height or set their tops among the clouds and that no trees that drink water may reach up to them in height.

¹⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because it^[a] towered high and set its top among the clouds and its heart was proud of its height,^(A)
