^12 (A)When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, ^(B)he^[a] will punish the speech^[b] of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes.

¹⁸ Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, ^(A)I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, ^(B)as I punished the king of Assyria.

³¹ For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant, and out of Mount Zion ^(A)a band of survivors. ^(B)The zeal of the Lord will do this.

¹⁷ For it is time for judgment ^(A)to begin at the household of God; and ^(B)if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who ^(C)do not obey the gospel of God?

¹⁹ For out of the heart come ^(A)evil thoughts, ^(B)murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, ^(C)slander.

A Tree Is Known by Its Fruit

^33 (A)“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, ^(B)for the tree is known by its fruit.

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, ^(A)praise and extol and honor the ^(B)King of heaven, ^(C)for all his works are right and his ways are just; and ^(D)those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

^14 (A)All this is in order that no trees by the waters may grow to towering height or set their tops among the clouds,^[a] and that no trees that drink water may reach up to them in height. For they are all given over to death, ^(B)to the world ^(C)below, among the children of man,^[b] with those who go down to the pit.
