The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

¹⁸ “I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you. ¹⁹ In a little while the world will no longer see me,^(A) but you will see me.^(B) Because I live, you will live^(C) too. ²⁰ On that day you will know that I am in my Father,^(D) you are in me, and I am in you. ²¹ The one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.^(E) And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father.^(F) I also will love him and will reveal myself to him.”

²² Judas^(G) (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it you’re going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” ^(H)

²³ Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.^{(I) 24} The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me.^(J)

²⁵ “I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. ²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit,^(K) whom the Father will send^(L) in my name, will teach you all things^(M) and remind you of everything I have told you.^(N)

Jesus’s Gift of Peace

²⁷ “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.^(O)

Faith Triumphs

5 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith,^(A) we have peace^[a] with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.^(B)

Unity in Christ

¹¹ So, then, remember that at one time you were Gentiles in the flesh—called “the uncircumcised” by those called “the circumcised,”^(A) which is done in the flesh by human hands.^{(B) 12} At that time you were without Christ, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of promise,^(C) without hope^(D) and without God in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood^(E) of Christ. ¹⁴ For he is our peace, who made both groups one^(F) and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh, ¹⁵ he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations, so that he might create^(G) in himself one^(H) new man from the two, resulting in peace. ¹⁶ He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body^(I) through the cross by which he put the hostility to death.^{[a] 17} He came and proclaimed the good news^(J) of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.^{(K) 18} For through him we both have access^(L) in one Spirit to the Father.^{(M) 19} So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, ²⁰ built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,^(N) with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. ²¹ In him the whole building, being put together,^(O) grows into a holy temple in the Lord.^{(P) 22} In him you are also being built together^(Q) for God’s dwelling^(R) in the Spirit.
