Isaiah 61:3-9
New American Standard Bible
3 To (A)grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The (B)oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit.
So they will be called [a](C)oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
4 Then they will (D)rebuild the ancient ruins,
They will raise up the former devastations;
And they will repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
5 (E)Strangers will stand and pasture your flocks,
And [b]foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers.
6 But you will be called the (F)priests of the Lord;
You will be spoken of as (G)ministers of our God.
You will eat the (H)wealth of nations,
And you will boast in their [c]riches.
7 Instead of your (I)shame you will have a (J)double portion,
And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion.
Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land,
(K)Everlasting joy will be theirs.
8 For I, the Lord, (L)love justice,
I hate robbery [d]in the burnt offering;
And I will faithfully give them their reward,
And make an (M)everlasting covenant with them.
9 Then their offspring will be known among the nations,
And their descendants in the midst of the peoples.
All who see them will recognize them
Because they are the (N)offspring whom the Lord has blessed.

New Living Translation
3 To all who mourn in Israel,[a]
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
festive praise instead of despair.
In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the Lord has planted for his own glory.
4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins,
repairing cities destroyed long ago.
They will revive them,
though they have been deserted for many generations.
5 Foreigners will be your servants.
They will feed your flocks
and plow your fields
and tend your vineyards.
6 You will be called priests of the Lord,
ministers of our God.
You will feed on the treasures of the nations
and boast in their riches.
7 Instead of shame and dishonor,
you will enjoy a double share of honor.
You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land,
and everlasting joy will be yours.
8 “For I, the Lord, love justice.
I hate robbery and wrongdoing.
I will faithfully reward my people for their suffering
and make an everlasting covenant with them.
9 Their descendants will be recognized
and honored among the nations.
Everyone will realize that they are a people
the Lord has blessed.”
