Isaiah 61:10-62:5

¹⁰^(A)I will greatly rejoice in the Lord;
    my soul shall exult in my God,
^(B)for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;
    he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself ^(C)like a priest with a beautiful headdress,
    ^(D)and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
¹¹For as the earth brings forth its sprouts,
    and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up,
so the Lord God will cause ^(E)righteousness and praise
    to sprout up before all the nations.

Zion's Coming Salvation

62 ^(F)For Zion's sake I will not keep silent,
    and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be quiet,
^(G)until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
    and her salvation as a burning torch.
²^(H)The nations shall see your righteousness,
    and all the kings your glory,
^(I)and you shall be called by a new name
    that the mouth of the Lord will give.
³You shall be ^(J)a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord,
    and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
⁴^(K)You shall no more be termed ^(L)Forsaken,^[a]
    and your land shall no more be termed Desolate,^[b]
^(M)but you shall be called ^(N)My Delight Is in Her,^[c]
    and your land Married;^[d]
for the Lord delights in you,
    and your land shall be married.
⁵For as a young man marries a young woman,
    so ^(O)shall your sons marry you,
and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
    so ^(P)shall your God rejoice over you.

Preach the Word

4 ^(A)I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, ^(B)who is to judge the living and the dead, and by ^(C)his appearing and his kingdom: ²preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; ^(D)reprove, rebuke, and ^(E)exhort, with complete patience and teaching. ³^(F)For the time is coming when people will not endure ^(G)sound^[a] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, ⁴and ^(H)will turn away from listening to the truth and ^(I)wander off into myths. ⁵As for you, ^(J)always be sober-minded, ^(K)endure suffering, do the work of ^(L)an evangelist, ^(M)fulfill your ministry.

⁶For ^(N)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my ^(O)departure has come. ⁷^(P)I have fought the good fight, ^(Q)I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. ⁸Henceforth there is ^(R)laid up for me ^(S)the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, ^(T)the righteous judge, will award to me on ^(U)that day, and not only to me but also to all ^(V)who have loved his appearing.

Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus

⁴⁶^(A)And they came to Jericho. And ^(B)as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, ^(C)a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. ⁴⁷And when he heard that it was ^(D)Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” ⁴⁸And many ^(E)rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” ⁴⁹And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, ^(F)“Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” ⁵⁰And throwing off his ^(G)cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. ⁵¹And Jesus said to him, ^(H)“What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, ^(I)“Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” ⁵²And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; ^(J)your faith has ^(K)made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.
