渇いている者への招き
55 「渇いている人がいるなら、金を持っていなくても、
自由に飲みに来なさい。
最上のぶどう酒とミルクと穀物を
無料で持って行きなさい。
2 どうして、少しも力のつかないもののために
金を無駄遣いするのか。
少しも腹の足しにならない食べ物のために
金を払うのか。わたしの言うことを聞きなさい。
そうすれば、たましいを元気にする
栄養価の高い食べ物をどこで手に入れるか、教えよう。
3 わたしのところへ来て、耳を傾けてよく聞くのだ。
あなたがたは立つか倒れるかの瀬戸際なのだ。
わたしはあなたがたと永遠の契約を結び、
ダビデ王を愛したように、
今も変わらず、あなたがたを愛したい。
4 彼は回りの国々を倒し、わたしの力を証明した。
5 あなたもまた国々に命令するだけで、
彼らは走って来て仕える。
それは、あなたの力や功績によるのではない。
あなたの神であるこのわたしが、
あなたを輝かせた結果である。
6 見いだすことのできる間に主を探し求めなさい。
近くにいる間に主を呼び求めなさい。
7 悪事を捨て、悪いことをしようとする思いを、
きっぱりと捨てなさい。
主に立ち返るなら、
主はあなたをあわれんでくださいます。
私たちの神に帰りなさい。
神は赦してくださいます。
8 「わたしの計画はあなたがたの考える計画とは違い、
わたしの思いはあなたがたの思いと同じではない。
9 天が地より高いように、
わたしの道はあなたがたの道より高く、
わたしの思いはあなたがたの思いより高い。

Invitation to the Thirsty
55 “Come, all you who are thirsty,(A)
come to the waters;(B)
and you who have no money,
come, buy(C) and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk(D)
without money and without cost.(E)
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?(F)
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,(G)
and you will delight in the richest(H) of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen,(I) that you may live.(J)
I will make an everlasting covenant(K) with you,
my faithful love(L) promised to David.(M)
4 See, I have made him a witness(N) to the peoples,
a ruler and commander(O) of the peoples.
5 Surely you will summon nations(P) you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,(Q)
because of the Lord your God,
the Holy One(R) of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”(S)
