⁶ And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord ^(A)God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in ^(B)goodness and ^(C)truth, ^7 (D)keeping mercy for thousands, ^(E)forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, ^(F)by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”

⁸ So Moses made haste and ^(G)bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. ⁹ Then he said, “If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, ^(H)let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a ^(I)stiff-necked^[a] people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as ^(J)Your inheritance.”

The Truth Shall Make You Free

³¹ Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you ^(A)abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. ³² And you shall know the ^(B)truth, and ^(C)the truth shall make you free.”

³³ They answered Him, ^(D)“We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, ^(E)whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. ³⁵ And ^(F)a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. ^36 (G)Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
