Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
    look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,(A)
    the earth will wear out like a garment(B)
    and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation(C) will last forever,(D)
    my righteousness will never fail.(E)

“Hear me, you who know what is right,(F)
    you people who have taken my instruction to heart:(G)
Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals
    or be terrified by their insults.(H)
For the moth will eat them up like a garment;(I)
    the worm(J) will devour them like wool.
But my righteousness will last forever,(K)
    my salvation through all generations.”

Awake, awake,(L) arm(M) of the Lord,
    clothe yourself with strength!(N)
Awake, as in days gone by,
    as in generations of old.(O)
Was it not you who cut Rahab(P) to pieces,
    who pierced that monster(Q) through?
10 Was it not you who dried up the sea,(R)
    the waters of the great deep,(S)
who made a road in the depths of the sea(T)
    so that the redeemed(U) might cross over?
11 Those the Lord has rescued(V) will return.
    They will enter Zion with singing;(W)
    everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy(X) will overtake them,
    and sorrow and sighing will flee away.(Y)

Jesus Calms the Storm(A)

35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat.(B) There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”(C)

41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
