² Why was there ^(A)no man when I came?
When I called, why was there none to answer?
Is My ^(B)hand so short that it cannot ransom?
Or have I no power to deliver?
Behold, I ^(C)dry up the sea with My rebuke;
I ^(D)make the rivers a wilderness;
Their fish stink for lack of water
And die of thirst.

“Behold, I am going to ^(A)plead your case
And ^(B)exact full vengeance for you;
And ^(C)I will dry up her ^[a]sea
And make her fountain dry.

¹² Moreover, I will make the ^(A)canals of the Nile dry
And ^(B)sell the land into the hands of evil men.
And I will make the land desolate,
As well as its fullness,
By the hand of strangers; I, Yahweh, have spoken.”
