Woes on the Wicked

Ah! Those who join[a] house with house,
they join field together with field
until there is no place[b]
and you are caused to dwell alone in the midst of the land.

Yahweh of hosts said in my ears:

Surely[c] many houses shall become a desolation,
large and beautiful ones without inhabitant.
10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath,[d]
and the seed of a homer will yield an ephah.[e]

Judgment on Land Barons

“How terrible it will be for you who join house to house,
    who add field to field,
until there is no more room,
and you have settled yourselves alone[a]
in the middle of the land!”

The Lord of the Heavenly Armies has declared this so I could hear it:

“Surely many houses will become desolate,
    great and beautiful houses,
        without occupants.
10 For ten acres of vineyard will produce only one bath,[b]
and one omer[c] of seed[d] will produce only one ephah.”[e]

Woe(A) to you who add house to house
    and join field to field(B)
till no space is left
and you live alone in the land.

The Lord Almighty(C) has declared in my hearing:(D)

“Surely the great houses will become desolate,(E)
the fine mansions left without occupants.
10 A ten-acre vineyard will produce only a bath[a] of wine;
a homer[b] of seed will yield only an ephah[c] of grain.”(F)
